Asparagus Cashew Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
This was really good as a finished product. I must be the world worst rice cooker because I ended up needing about double the liquid, but it still turned out great. I did use chicken stock instead of veggie. To everyone claiming this is bland, the instructions say salt and pepper to taste. If it is bland add some salt. I followed the directions and browned the pasta first, but next time I would do the rice first, I was afraid the pasta was going to burn. The bottom line is, we all liked it and we will be making it again.

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
These pancakes are really good. My kids loved them. It does not make many (I doubled the recipe and got 20) and we all ate 2 or 3. They freeze well also which makes for a quick breakfast. I did make these with an egg sub because of an allergy and they worked out fine. We will be having these often.

Dad's Asian Slaw

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
I loved this and I am still dreaming about having it again. I omitted the sunflower seed (not a favorite) and used oriental ramem (my 3 year old like the blue not the red package). All I could find at my store was broccoli slaw so I used that. Sounds like a lot but the base was the same and it was delicious. I did wait to put the noodles in until right before serving because I wanted the crunch. This was so good and I will be finding reasons to make it. Thank you for the great recipe.

Whoopie Pies VII

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
I think these are really good. For anyone who had a problem with the filling, I think you did it wrong. I have used both flour and corn starch and they turn out great. You have to let the flour mixture cool totally and then beat it for a long time. I use my stand mixer and at first it looks strange and like not enough but you have to keep beating it. The filling should not be greasy either and I have used both butter and shortening. In fact the filling is my favorite part, it's like Waldorf frosting so good, but for sure a different texture then regular frosting, and that what is so great. I am making these again for my son'e Pi party on Pi day (3.14), and I can't wait!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
This is delicous and easy to make if you use a crockpot. I put the liquid and spices in the crockpot, add 2 frozen chicken breast and set for about 4-5 hours. (Our crockpot is dark and cooks quickly) When the chicken is done I take it out and sread it, add it back in with a can of black beans and the corn. I serve it with fried tortilla strips and it is always a hit. Thank you for this great recipe.

Roasted Garlic Lemon Broccoli

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
We love this. I made it at a family gathering and someone thought I was burning it but it was just getting good. I like to place the broccoli so there is room around each piece. I find this makes them crispier and that's how we like it. It does kind of start to look burnt as mentioned, but it tastes great. My 6 year old actually whined for more broccoli! That must mean it's good. The olny change I make is to use a little more oil, but otherwise everything else as called for.

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
We love this recipe at our house. I always double the sauce and use less pepper (just a taste preference). My 6 year old loves this and the 2 year old likes it minus the shrimp. Thank you for a great recipe.

Toasted Apple-Pecan Brie Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
This is a great recipe. I use ciabatta rolls for the bread. I think I would make this every week if I had my way, but for the family I control myself. I did get ahead of myself the first time and thought the apples didn't have enough moisture, so I added some apple juice. Big mistake, it made them very runny and not easy to eat, so now I am more patient and the apple turn out perfect. Very happy I found this recipe.

Oatmeal Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
These waffles were so good. My kids are pancake snobs and will only eat sourdough pancakes, but they likes these waffles. I loved the oatmeal in them and the texture it gave. We do have allergies so I used rice milk, and for the eggs, one flax egg and one powdered egg replacer. I was so excited that they worked out. You never know when you have to replace eggs, but it worked out great. Thank you, we will be having these often.

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

This dressing is really great and really easy. I was scared about the amount of vinegar but it is nothing to worry about. My husband eats a salad every day now. We are so glad we found a dressing alternative to our usual ceaser.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This was tragic. Ranch dressing doesn't have dill in it. I thought that I was perhaps confused, so I tried it and it was terrible. I had to add huge amounts of garlic an onion powder to get it to taste like anything. Not what I ws looking for at all!

Cilantro Serrano Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This stuff is awesome. We use it for shrimp tacos and also just to dip chips in. I make a vegan version for food allergy reason and it works great. I use veganaise instead of regular mayo and sour supreme instead of the heavy cream. I also use half the amount of chilis, but that is just perference. I was really glad to find this recipe. Thanks!

Fry Bread Tacos II

This is just for the fry bread part. It is really good. My husband and I like it for tacos, but the kids like it with honey. My 2 year old won't eat, but he eat this like crazy. It's a fun alternative to tortillas every once in a while.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This was really good. I just poured all the sauce in with the chicken instead of basting. It was perfect, but then I left it in the oven for 5 extra minutes and the sauce around the edges burned. My husband was mad because he had to clean to pan. I learned my lesson though. 30 minutes is plenty for chicken tenders.

Chris' Bay Area Burger

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
This is so good and so easy. We have our's on ciabatta bread with melted mozzarella (I broil it on the buns first to get it melted and browned yummy) and top with garlic mayo. Everone in the house eats them. Try these with the three-step salad also from this site. Great combo. I think we would have these every week but I don't want to burn it out! Thank you for the great recipe!

Oriental Shrimp Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
We really liked this at our house. It was easy to make. I didn't use celery becasue I don't like the taste, but I think water chestnuts would be good for some crunch. I also would use different noodles next time. The rice ones I got at my store were about 3 feet long in a big ball and very difficult to break or cut. Any helpful hints?! I'm using udon noddles the next time. Overall very good.

Curried Shrimp Bisque

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
We really liked this at our house. I left out the brady because we don't drink and used coconut milk in place of the cream for our dairy allergic child. He's 18 months and loved it. We had to stop feeding it to him for fear of what might happen later with the spice and all. I served it with coconut rice and it was a hit. Thanks!

Crispy Chicken Wontons

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
These were really good. I was worried they wouldn't get crispy enough but there was no problem with that. I think next time I will use ground chicken to make things easier. I made an oriental dipping sauce from this site and it went great with it. Thanks!

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
I am not sure what happened with this but here it goes. All I did different was cook the chicken on the stove top. I tried to cook the pasta like directed, but it would have been a huge mess of mush. I poured over 2 cups of broth off when the pasta was done and left the rest and made a sauce. The flavor was good, but when a box of stock is over three dollars this turn into quite a meal when over half the box is wasted. Next time I'm going to just cook the pasta in water and then make a sauce out of thickened stock and cream with the spices. Maybe I screwed up something up but I really don't think so. My vote is for good flavor but bad pasta instuctions. Maybe someone could lend a hand and tell me what the deal is.
