About this Cook
Professional Magician Assistant, Juggler, and Acrobat. Best part of the gigs are entertaining, traveling, and EATING! My hubbie and I are so blessed! www.danchanmagic.com
My favorite things to cook
I'm an Asian who represents! ;) I also like baking desserts, making ice cream, and puttering with Italian dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All things steamed, stir fried, and/or made into soups. My mom is still known for her famous Egg Rolls. I'm apparently known for Pizzelles and Madeleines. Go figure.
My cooking triumphs
Steamed Chicken with wood ears, lily buds, and chinese mushrooms. I also make a mean Apple, Fig, and Almond soup.
My cooking tragedies
Chinese Chicken Wine Soup. *sigh* I picked up the Rice Wine Vinegar bottle instead of the Rice Wine bottle. Talk about stupid mistakes.

Hong Kong Style Egg Tarts
I was not impressed at all with the crust - but the filling tasted as good as the bakery shops in San Francisco! I used Trader Joe's puffed pastry as the crust and it tasted fantastic (it was quicker to use, too!) Highly recommended recipe, although would substitute the crust

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic
This sweet potato recipe is the best! While many of the guests were leery at first (it looked weird and it's sweet potato!), after trying a bite of it, they were in love! The whole dish was finished and scraped clean! Highly recommended!

Sparkling Punch
This was a fantastic punch! I was sorry I didn't get more of the ingredients - my guests liked it so much, they drained the punch bowl and wanted more! Highly recommended!
