Easy Kielbasa Skillet Dinner

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2014
Sooooo Easy. Fast, Comfort food. Added a little green pepper and a large clove of garlic. Used some chicken broth as well and cooked the potatoes covered in the pan for about 10 minutes, then added a bag of frozen mixed veggies. Cooked that covered for an additional 8 minutes. Perfect. Don't forget the salt and pepper. Transferred to a warm oven til the family got home.

SO LOVELY WITHOUT THE VANILLA. The vanilla adds a strange smell and flavor. Otherwise, I am glad I found this recipe.

Fire-Roasted Tomato and Spinach Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2013
This is a perfect, easy, weekday meal - as is!!! Don't change a thing. Use the recommended ingredients as well. Use FIRE ROASTED Tomatoes, Use CREAMED spinach. If your looking for an uncomplicated pantry meal, this is it. Go meatless for one night!! No one will notice. If your looking for a more complex meal, try another recipe.

Pumpkin Bars I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
This was fabulous!! I halved the recipe and used one 9x13 pan. I did cut the soda and powder down a little as well, other than that, followed to a tee. Delicious and moist. Definitely more cake-like but that was okay. Great with ice cream or homemade whipped cream. Try this.

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
No, no, no. Sorry. I couldn't get past the color of this dish. Not pretty at all. The taste was bland. I used medium salsa and added some cilantro and sauteed up the chicken with some mexican seasonings, it still didn't do anything for this dish.

Baked Rigatoni with Italian Sausage and Fennel

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Dish was okay, but DON'T waste your fennel on this recipe. It didn't add much to it. Sauce covered up any flavor.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
Okay recipe. I halved the recipe for 1 pound of fish. Next time I will decrease the amount of buter and mayonaise, wanted more of the melty cheese than a sauce. Also used celery seed, didn't have celery salt. Parmesan is salty enough.

Ham Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
A pretty bland recipe. It definately needs some pepping up. I didnt have pimentos, I added mushrooms and broccoli flourets and sauteed garlic. I substituted the water for white wine, and added some cajun seasoning for a little kick, not too much though. It still needed something though, more flavor. I think maybe the cream of mushroom soup was too heavy. Might make it with a roux and some cream next time and some more herbs.

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
Dry, dry, dry. Maybe if the liquid completely covered the meat it wouldn't have been so dry. Or if I cooked it on low for 6 hours instead of on high for 3.5 hours. I put some of the liquid in a pot on the stove with some added sugar and cooked it down to make a sauce. That part was good.

Sheryl's Corn and Crab Chowder

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2010
Best Chowder recipe I've tried so far. You won't be disappointed. Stuck to the recipe except for reduced servings to 6 and it made about 5 good servings for our family. Used cooked shrimp, just added them at the end to warm them through, and I didn't have any crab. I will be making this again with crabmeat someday. My husband wants me to make this "at least 4 times a year" and my 19 month old couldn't get enough of it. I didn't giver her any shrimp yet though. This is a keeper.

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
I used red cabbage, shredded, because it has so much more flavor. Sauteed up the cabbage for a couple of minutes before adding the other ingredients. This cut down the total cooking time. I did sautee the keilbasa first to get it caramalized. I also used chicken broth instead of water, again, more flavor. Served this with German Potato salad III from ths site. Wonderful flavorful dish. Thanks

Turtle Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
This was a fantastic cake. Very RICH. I did use yellow cake mix as this was all I had on hand and it still turned out lovely. I only had about 9 or 10 ounces of caramels so I used about a half cup of butter and only 3 oz of evaporated milk. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly. I did cook the second time about 25-27 minutes. I think it needed it.

Pumpkin Crunch Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
Way too runny, had to cook almost two hours covered so as not to burn the nuts. 2 cans of 15 oz. pumpkin puree is needed!!!! I found another recipe online that is exactly the same as this one but with 29 oz. can pumpkin puree. That seems right. Used unsalted butter because I don't like margarine. I will try this recipe again with the modifications.

Fabulous recipe! My first upside down cake. No problems at all. Used 8" round pans instead of 9". Used one ring of pineapple for the center and cut the other rings in half and arranged them around the center one. Wonderful!!

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2005
Great recipe. Next time I will use less or no bread crumbs, and just use the pecans. The bread crumbs seemed to make it a little soggy and messed with the honey dijon flavor.
