About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love making breakfast-type sweets.. muffins, pancakes, etc. Cookies are a favorite as well, but I find I have trouble making healthy or light versions worth eating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving was a big day at our house. I remember waking to the smell of turkey, then helping my mother make her oyster stuffing. so perfect!
My cooking triumphs
Sneaking goodies like wheat germ and oat bran into guilty treats.
My cooking tragedies
Once made tragic low-fat cakes for a group of coworkers. Everyone was so nice while they were choking down the dry, rubbery bits. Now days I test run everything.

Amish White Bread
Good bread! Different than I expected, but still tasty. My kids love it! Made it as directed but didn't find it to be all that sweet as others have (love sweets though). I added a wash before baking, using 2 egg yolks thinned with milk and a little honey. Just brush it on while you're waiting for the oven to heat. Makes the top brown nicely.

A Jerky Chicken
Very good sauce! Excellent flavor! Doubled everything, except chicken and pepper (used one jalapeno), which wasn't spicy in the least, but delicious. Plan to try again with habanero and thigh meat. Definitely a keeper!

Sugar Cookie Icing
Excellent constancy! I’ve used it a couple of times and found, as many mentioned, I needed a bit more milk, but got a nicer finish if I didn’t thin too much. Additionally, when I added too much syrup, it cracked a little when dry. When I used both milk and syrup to thin the end result was flawless!
