Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
My first attempt ever at fried rice and it was really good. I took the advice of others and used frozen pea's and carrots, I heated the wok and used olive oil sauteed 1/2 onion then added veggies then rice, to be exact I used 1/3 c. soy sauce, and it was plenty for our taste. My husband really liked it and ate nearly half of what I made. Thanks for a great recipe, will make again.

Seven Minute Frosting I

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
My mom has been making this for years, using light corn syrup in place of the creme of tarter (no diffrence in the taste at all). I like this one better. It's so easy once you find the trick...WHICH IS keep mixing but don't start timing your 7 minutes until after the water returns to boiling and run your mixer on high for the full 7 minutes. It's thick and creamy and tastes like marshmallow fluff. Perfect on chocolate cake or cup cakes. However you have to spread it on a completly cool cake while the frosting is still slightly warm, and DO NOT cover it it will stick to everything (as does fluff) and it does get a little grainy after it sets for a long period (6-8 hours) of time to best to make just a few hours before serving. Sounds like a lot of work but it's really not. AND IT'S WORTH WHAT LITTLE TIME IT DOES TAKE! YUMMY!!!!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
I have to agree these were really good, with and without the hot sauce. I put the garlic in the flour mix. Letting it set in the flour works very well. I made 20 1/2 with hot sauce, 1/2 just plain, they ate them all. Great recipe will definatly make again.

Cone Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
These are great! Served at my son's 6th birthday party, the kids went wild for them. I used milk chocolate cake mix and a combo of chocolate and white fluffy icing, the kids like the chocolate and the adults enjoyed the white icing. The cones were nice and crunchy really good. I did have to use 2 cake mixes to make 24 cupcakes and had enough left over for a small 2 layer. Worth making!!

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
These are great little cookies. My kids and I had a blast making them. I didn't change anything, we rolled up about 1 in. balls and flattened them a little in our palms then sprinkled with red and green sugar, baked exactly 12 mins in my oven. *A little baking tip when using stick butter 12 Tbsp = 2/3c. and 14 Tbsp = 3/4c.* Thanks for the recipe.

Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
I really liked this chicken but I did make changes. I used sour milk instead of the soup (1c milk and 1tbp vinager), 1/2c flour, 1/2c corn starch, 1 egg, salt and pep to taste, 2tbp season salt, 1tbs poultry season, 1ts garlic, and 1tsp paprika, mix together and add chicken let stand 1 hr. in fridg. I used 1 cup flour added salt and pep, then rolled the chicken in the flour before I fried it. Was super crispy and tasted great. Being from the south old habits die hard, crispy well seasoned fried chicken is a must for me. Thanks for the recipe I will make again.

Warm Apple Pocket

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
My husband and I agree this really needed more sugar and wasn't really as gooie as we like apple pie to be, but that is on a personal level. It turned out beautifully, nice shape and the aroma was incredible, the apple filling was good just not quite sweet enough for our tastes. Will probly try again and just alter a little. Thanks for the recipe.

Easy Slow Cooker Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
I followed this recipe exactly and while the sauce was good the meatballs were to soft for our taste. If I make this again I will brown the meatballs first and cut down the cook time a little. Other than that which is just a personal preferance, I wouldn't discourage people from giving this a try. Thanks for the recipe!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
These are great meatballs! I have a big family so I tripled the recipe put fresh garlic in place of the powder, added a little onion powder to the mixture. They held their shape and was nice and firm with a little chew to them. The sauce is super easy and the longer it simmered the better it tasted. I didn't have the best pot for the job so I had to stir it alot to keep it from scortching on the bottom. We are also big mushroom eaters so I added that to the sauce didn't change the taste. My family loved it and we plan to use the few leftovers for dinner tonight and make grinders. I can't wait. Oh yeah I too was nervous about the meat not being precooked but they cooked up very well I simmered mine for 45 mins just because I had so many and they were all done. Thanks for a great recipe.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
This was really good, my hubby liked it very well and so did I, I gave it 4 *'s cause I think the next time I make it I will double the brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup and put a little in the meat mix, and cut the mild down by half just to give the meat a little more zest. Bake time was right on, and it did taste very good. Thanks for sharing.

Angel Food Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
This is a beautiful, moist, light, very tasty cake. My 5 and 7 yr old boys loved it plain. Easy to make, eggs should be at room temp. so they seperate easily. The next time I make it I'm going to do 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp almond extracts. Thanks for the recipe.

Really good! I used Italian Bread crumbs (3/4c.) instead of bread. We ate all but a slice, my husband loved it. Serves well with smashed potatoes and corn. Will make it again. Thanks.

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
This was super easy and tasted great. The celery was the biggest surprise for me :) It was so good and gave the beef a wonderful smell and flavor. I followed the recipe to the letter until I got to the brown sugar. I read the other reviews and thought I'd play it by taste to see what it might need instead of just giving it the full 1/4 c. I'm so glad I waited it didn't need it at all. My hubby commented that it was sweet but over all he really liked it and it was a definate hit with the kids. I'm really excited this was the 1st time I didn't use a canned sloppy joe mix, and I don't think I will ever again. Thanks!

5 stars isn't enough for this one. WOW!! I used boneless skinless chicken breast and cut it into nice thick strips, followed the recipe perfectly. My 6 yr. old son ate 6 strips and ask if I would make it for lunch tomorrow. My husband raved and I thought it was great. It turned out beautiful, crisp, just plain yummy. Will definetly make again and again. Thanks for the recipe.

Best Ever Pie Crust

I tried this pie crust yesterday..It was amazing I followed others and put my bowl in the freezer and used 1/2 butter and 1/2 shorting also putting them in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes, I put my water in the freezer too, and cut the salt by 1/2. I was in a rush so I seperated the finished product and put it in the freezer for 30 mins and it rolled out the best pie crust I have ever made and so easy to work with. It was flaky and the taste was out of this world. THANKS for a great recipe.
