Swiss Cheese 'n' Onion Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
I just made this quiche for the second time, and both times it has been DELICIOUS. I added pre-cooked, cubed ham and I don't know if I would have liked it as much without it. The flavor of the ham just complements the onion and the swiss cheese so well. I also used fat free half & half and probably more than the recommended 2 cups of swiss (I just shredded a whole bar of the cheese). We had it for dinner and it was so good that 4 adults and one 2-year-old finished the entire thing!!! The flavor is so great, and EVERYONE I made this for (it was for a large family get-together last time) gave me rave reviews. This time it didn't have the dryness(not sure if I'm explaining this right) I would have liked (although the inserted knife did come out clean), but it was probably my fault because I was in a hurry for dinner to be ready and didn't let it stand for 10 minutes like the recipe says. Try it, you'll love it!!

Jalapeno Popper Cups

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Absolutely delicious (from a traditional popper lover)! I had a jar of diced jalapenos in my fridge, so I used those instead of fresh jalapenos. I wasn't sure of the translation from fresh jalapenos to jarred, but I used too much (5 tablespoons) and they were delicious but just a tiny bit too spicy for my (and a few others at our party's) taste. Will definitely make these again, probably with 3 tablespoons of diced jalapenos. I wasn't sure what "hot pepper sauce" was (hot sauce?), but we had an open bottle of Footy's wing sauce and I used that, and it was great. We served it with habanero jelly (not very spicy on its own), and the sweetness combined with the spiciness is amazing! Love this recipe - they are addicting and definitely beware of the molten factor when they first come out of the oven!!

Different Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
Made this last night because I had all the ingredients on hand. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! Both 1-year-old and 3-year-old cleaned their plates! This was so easy, it will definitely be a staple in our house. Here are my changes: I didn't have white wine, so I used milk. I also did not have garlic powder (gasp!) so I used 1 tsp. garlic salt and did not add in the tsp. of salt stated in recipe. Thank you for sharing this awesome recipe!

Easy Ham and Cheese Appetizer Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I liked these, but they got mixed reviews at our Superbowl party. I had honey dijon mustard in my fridge, so that's what I used. I also didn't have the poppy seeds. I used Hawaiian sweet rolls and sliced swiss in stead of shredded. I thought they were really good, but my hubby (who likes everything) wasn't crazy about them. Four others thought they were good, though. I only give 4 stars b/c of the mixed reviews at our house tonight :)

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Absolutely delicious. These are time consuming, and do require quite a few steps, but the end result is well worth the work. Savory, with a great flavor, maybe just a tiny bit on the salty side (which I tend to like, but if you don't maybe just use a low sodium soup). Gobbled up by grown-ups and kids in our house alike.

Cajun Chicken Lasagna

Absolutely delicious. The only change I made was to use the oven ready lasagna noodles and to add a layer of cheese. This was outrageous!

Texas Curried Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
Absolutely awesome! I was really skeptical (my mother chose the recipe), and even while it was cooking I still wasn't sure I liked the smell. But after the first bite, I was 100% sold! The flavor was absolutely awesome, and the chicken was tender & juicy. We accidentally omitted the butter, and honestly don't think we'll use the butter next time because we didn't miss it at all! Definitely will be a family favorite (even the picky 3-year-old gobbled it up!).

Carne Con Papas

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
I have to admit, that as a Cuban from Miami, I had low expectations. I was so pleasantly surprised! This had great flavor and texture and was pretty easy to make. I got rave reviews from 9 people at dinner, and everybody (from the 10-month-old baby to the picky 9- and 11-year-olds to the grandparents) loved this! This will definitely be in my go-to recipe file!!! I made the recipe exactly as stated, and don't think I'd change a thing when making it again!

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
This was absolutely delicious. I made it for Easter brunch, and everyone loved it. I did have outrageously good strawberries, so I'm sure that helped, but the dressing itself was awesome. I also added a package of glazed pecans (found in my produce section) and it gave it an awesome crunch. Very, very good.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
Absolutely amazing! Followed others' comments and doubled the cheese and used Pam instead of vegetable oil. Definitely not for calorie counters, but SO worth it! Made it for a dinner party, and everyone loved it - even the person who said she normally doesn't like homemade macaroni and cheese!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
This meatloaf rocks the house! It is very easy to make, and even though I was unsure about some of the steps (ketchup on top of brown sugar, really???), I followed it to a T and it came out AWESOME. My husband even made it for us for dinner and he managed to make it perfectly (and that is saying something!). This will remain a family favorite for us. Thanks tangastar!!!

Chicken and Bow Tie Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2005
I made this for two friends last night and they raved about it. It was not difficult, and had a great flavor. Substituting already minced garlic for the fresh kind made it much easier, too. This is a delicious, quick and easy dinner. Thanks!

Sausage Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
Amazing! I didn't have poppy seeds, but didn't feel like I was missing anything. We also just made individuals (wrapped up each of the little triangles of dough) instead of a log, which was great! I used Jimmy Dean Fully Cooked Hearty Sausage Crumbles, and it was perfect. So delicious and simple... thank you!!

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
Super easy and very delicious. I think it was ready in under 15 minutes. I didn't have the jalapenos, but can't wait to try it again when I do. This will be a staple in our house - our 2 year old scarfed them!

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This was so easy and so great. I followed a couple of other people's suggestions - put the chicken in the egg mixed with oregano, basil, and garlic powder and let it sit in that for about 30 minutes before coating them with the breadcrumbs. I also added parmesean cheese (el cheapo powdered stuff) and Adobo seasoning to the breadcrumbs and used Progresso Italian breadcrumbs. I was worried that between the herbs in the egg & the italian seasoning it would be too much, but it was AWESOME. Used Classico 4-cheese sauce and probably way too much cheese on top... mmmmmmm. Very delicious, I will be making this regularly!

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
I usually don't like raw broccoli (love it cooked) at all, so I wasn't sure about this, but decided to give it a try as part of our Easter brunch. I was pleasantly surprised because that "raw broccoli flavor" that I usually dislike so much was totally not there! The one substitution that I made was that instead of making the dressing I used store-bought a Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing (I believe it was Ken's). Very good overall, and a great dish to take to a potluck (everybody liked it at Easter).
