About this Cook
I just got married in June 2005 so cooking has now replaced my wedding planning hobby. I had *some* cooking experience prior to getting married, but now that I am cooking everyday my skill and interest have grown tremendously! I am also trying to get into the habit of cooking and eating healthy, so I'm especially on the lookout for healthy recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Mexican food(probably because it's my favorite thing to eat)! I also enjoy baking a lot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We're still developing those :-)
My cooking triumphs
I've made a few desserts for friends and events, and somehow I've gotten a little bit of an "excellent baker" repuation (little do they know how easy the recipes were, though). Some of the recipes from this site: Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake, Pumpkin Dessert, Pecan Pie V (the one with no corn syrup), and Grandma Ople's Apple Pie.
My cooking tragedies
I was making a beef stew in the slow cooker that called for 1 cup of red wine and 2 tbs. of red wine vinegar. I accidentally switched the two and put in 1 cup of red wine vinegar...needless to say we made a quick run for fast food that night! :-(

D's Famous Salsa
We used fresh tomatoes, and it was an excellent salsa fresca. Great blend of flavors.

Cheese Herb Bread
Delicious! This was the best bread I've made yet. Definitely need to use less yeast, though, it did reach the top of my machine and then cave in. I used fresh herbs from my garden.
