My favorite things to cook
I like to try new things. Chicken dishes always seem to be quick and easy, so those are good choices for during the week. I used to dislike spicy, but now chili powder, cayenne pepper, white pepper, and other spices are my friend. I like to make spaghetti, Italian dishes, and concoctions with lots of spices that are quick to throw together.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The things I remember making with my mom are spaghetti, fried pork chops, peanut butter balls, and mashed potatoes. And my grandmother, she cooked everyhing...and she never measured anything.
My cooking triumphs
I've learned from Rachel Ray that you don't have to measure everything. I used to measure everything exactly. Now that I don't do that anymore, I'm open to tossing in substitutions and adding and removing ingredients to make something my own. Most of the time it works (occasionally not), but I always have fun now!
My cooking tragedies
There were a bunch in the beginning, but I won't talk about those.
