Zucchini Yogurt Multigrain Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Yummy, healthy recipe! To make it healthier, use unbleached flour. You can also use cocunut oil.

Banana-Chip Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
Yum, these are great! I'm still trying to convince my 2-year-old that they're not cookies. Aside from the chocolate chips, they're very healthy. (I made some changes for myself, but I think that the recipe sounds great as-is. I used unbleached flour instead of all-purpose and threw in a bit of flax seed and oat bran, and a bit more applesauce to compensate. I only used 2/3 cup of chocolate chips, and that seemed like plenty.)

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
I made this sauce as-is, but left out the hot sauce because I didn't have any. The worchestershire sauce was overwhelming and it would be better with a lot less of it.

Orange Breakfast Ring

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
Yum! I made this recipe as-is, except for leaving out the almonds, for a brunch. It was well-received and I would make it again. The instructions are easy to understand, which was nice.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2008
Mmm, this is a good recipe. I usually don't bake cookies because I get sidetracked and they get too dark. This time, I ended up with perfect cookies, even though they took a little longer in my oven than the recipe's cooking time. And after a couple of days in a sealed container, they're still moist!

Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
This is a great recipe! I made 1.5 times the dough, and left out 1/2 cup of sugar as other people suggested. I also added a bit of cinnamon and vanilla to the dough. However, it was a little tart and next time I won't leave out that sugar.

Pot Roast Dips

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
This was very tasty! I think I'll use half of a packet of au jus next time because the dip was a little too salty. My husband really liked this meal, though! As recommended by other users, I put the meat and cheese on the bread and then broiled them for a couple of minutes in the oven. I was amazed that it didn't take any longer to cook when starting with frozen meat. (I did cut the roast in two, though, so it would heat all the way through.)

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This was a nice, easy recipe once I got the limes juiced. I used the full amount of sweetened condensed milk. However, when it came to the limes, it took me 30 limes to get 3/4 cup (instead of 20). I wish I had only used 20 because the lime taste was overpowering.

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This is a great recipe! I have to make a double batch because my husband loves it so much. I use a mixture of flours (oat, unbleached, spelt, etc.) and leave out the nuts. I also follow the suggestion of another user to use two tablespoons of oil and replace the rest of the oil with (unsweetened) applesauce. I love that there is no refined sugar in this recipe!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
It's taken me 4 years of being married to find a good pancake recipe that I don't have to cut in half (and somehow ruin). It makes just enough for my husband and I. I use butter instead of shortening (same amount) and my husband loves these!

Haitian French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
Wow! My husband and I have been looking for a good French Toast recipe, and we really like this one. We use make a half-recipe on Saturday and a half-recipe on Sunday, so one baguette makes breakfast for a whole weekend. I don't leave the bread out overnight, and it still turns out really well. Using the baguette bread keeps the toast from getting soggy.

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2006
These were good! While looking at reviews, I sorted by "most helpful" and found the suggestions posted by Tunisianswife. I used 3 apples and that was a good amount. What I would change is that I wouldn't use the nutmeg suggested in the reviews. I used 1/4 tsp. instead of the 1/2 tsp. that was suggested, and the nutmeg was overpowering. Thanks for the recipe!

Mexican Rice I

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2006
This is very good rice--I like the flavor. I used a roma tomato, and will use another tomato next time, along with 1/2 tsp. of salt--it was a little too salty.

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2006
My husband can't stand store-bought tartar sauce, so I tried this with only a dash of lemon juice and he loves it. He says it's almost perfect, but it is missing "a little something" that he can't put his finger on.

Awesomely Easy Sesame Asparagus

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2006
This was delicious! I do not like asparagus, but in the interest of cooking healthier food for my family, I tried it. I added a little bit of lemon juice as suggested by one of the reviews.

Southern Living Magazine's Chicken-Fried Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2006
This was my first time making chicken fried steak. It turned out great! I cooked it on an electric, non-stick skillet with a lot less oil than the recipe called for and my husband loved it. For anyone who's never used this recipe before: With the red and black pepper, it's pretty spicy, so if you don't like that, you might want to use less pepper.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
This is a delicious recipe--great for cranberry lovers. I'm not very experienced at baking breads, but it was pretty much foolproof. I like the way it has lots of cranberry flavor and isn't sugary.
