Grandma Johnson's Scones

Fantastic. I made these scones EXACTLY as the recipe calls for and they were perfect. just as yummy the next day. I doubled the recipe because I needed a lot of scones and divided the dough into three different flavors, cinnamon nutmeg, cranberry orange and lemon with a lemon glaze. I just divided the dough into three bowls and in place of adding the raisens I added the drided cranberries and orange zest, cinnamon and nutmeg and lemon zest. Lemon glaze was drizzled on and I made that from some fresh lemon juice, powdered sugar and a bit of milk.

Frosted Banana Bars

I didn't have any sour cream so I used whipped cream cheese instead and they were great! They were moist and tasty and I used my moms cream cheese frosting recipe.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Cookie Perfection. Doubled this exact recipe, I made the cookies jumbo size using a muffin scoop and used dried cranberries, cherries and blueberries in place of raisens and added white chocolate chips. I am and avid cookie baker and this was an EXCELLENT cookie. Lightly golden slightly crisp edge not flat but puffed just right in the middle and soft on the inside. Better than the bakery. The time had to be upped to 16-18 minnutes in my oven due to the JUMBO size. TRY IT!

Pumpkin Pancakes

These pancakes were light and fluffy and not too sweet. The only modification I made was to double the recipe and add extra milk (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup). Served with regular maple syrup. YUM!

Deviled Eggs I

Cold Oven Pound Cake

This is a great recipe I took half a cup of sugar away and it is still very sweet but thats good because I have a sweet tooth.In this recipe you could put in beries,any zest or what ever you like! Instead of margrine and shorting you could se butter. I took cream chesee frosting and melted it in the microwave and drizzeld it on top. This is great will make again!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

PERFECT! Just how I like it. Chocolate, dense, not too sweet. I love this cake and it holds up well for all frosting, filling or decorating. I follow exact directions. Forgot to use the coffee in place of hot water. The coffee really inhances the chocolate so use it. Last night I just made a dark chocolate butter cream for frosting and filing and as always the cake was loved by all.

Banana Oatmeal Bread

Everone rally liked this. We made muffins instead of loaves. Used 1/2 margarine,1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 brown sugar we also used 1/2 cup wheat and 1/2 cup white flour. We were a little short on bananas so we used 2 small bananas and 1/2 cup applesauce to make up for the lack of bananas and the margarine substitution. Bakeing time for the muffins was about 15 - 18 minutes. The brown sugar and wheat flour addition really made this extra yummy with a little bit of nutty flavor. If I use brown sugar again next time I think I will cut out about 1/4 cup because they were a little sweeter than i like.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Really yummy! These were light and fluffy and loved by all. I did double the recipe because we have a big family. I also added a cinnamon blend, vanilla and did need to add some additional milk as others suggested. Its a keeper.

Cinnamon Chocolate Cake

I have baked this cake so many times in the last this 11 years since it was published in TOH that I can do it standing on my head. NEVER has there been anything but raves and multiple request for the recipe. By far a crowd pleaser and so super EASY to make. My mother in law called it a Texas Sheet Cake? Try it and you will be very pleased! i usually leave out the nuts and have had to substitute reg milk for buttermilk and it turns out just as good.

Michelle's Soft Sugar Cookies

These are by far the best cut out sugar cookies I have ever made. The only change I made was using the 4 teaspoons of baking powder in place of the cream of tartar and baking soda. I let the dough set Fridge overnight. I too rolled the cookies between 2 sheets of parchment paper (you could use wax paper) and only had to use a dusting of powder on the paper and on the dough and had no trouble at all with the cut outs sticking or the dough being too sticky(?). Baked them for 7 minutes.....no longer. They were perfect. This is my new sugar cookie recipe that I am sure I will use forever.

Frosted Maple Cookies

My family really enjoyed these cookies. The kids loved them because they were very cake like. My husband and I agree that they were good but a little too cake like for us. We did not have nuts but we will definately add them next time. The dough worried me at first because it was so sticky but the final result was good. The maple frosting definately makes the cookie so dont try them without it. We will make these again.

Pecan Pumpkin Biscuits

I Finally found the right pumpkin biscuit. The toasted pecans made this extra yummy. My husband and all 4 of my kids loved them. Even the picky eater. I did not have the half and half so I substituted buttermilk and in place of the sugar I used 2T brown sugar and 1T sugar. These are really good served with honeybutter.
