Crystal's Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2014
Made these exactly as written besides using homemade pumpkin purée. The cookies were delicious and moist, I love that they don't have a lot of sugar. My 3 year old stole 5 of these cookies!

Easy Rice Breakfast Treat

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2014
I had leftover cooked rice and was looking for something easy that tasted like rice pudding. This recipe is perfect. I love that it has directions for making it in individual servings. I did use brown sugar instead of white, and added raisins to the rice and milk before I cooked it. So easy and tasty!

Healthy Frozen Fruit Cups: A Dessert You Feel Good Not Guilty About.

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2014
The taste was good, but the texture was not. My kids and I didn't like the pieces of orange in it. Maybe a bit of orange juice instead, or mandarin oranges might be better to us as far as the texture goes.

Quick Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2014
I loved that this recipe is so quick and easy, just dump everything in the same bowl and mix it up. I added an extra banana at the advice of the other reviews. Another recipe on this site calls for banana pudding instead of vanilla pudding. That might give it more banana flavor. This recipe was moist, but I still prefer the flavor of traditional banana bread. I like to add spices to my banana breads-cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, but I didn't try that with this recipe, I wasn't sure how it would turn out with the cake mix. Overall a good recipe when you want to make a quick loaf of banana bread.

Sugar and Spice Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
I was out of cloves, but I added a little ginger. I rolled the cookies to 1/4 inch thickness because I like them soft. These were so delicious! Still soft the next day, too. Really yummy with a cream-cheese icing. These were a great twist on the traditional sugar cookie.

Pumpkin Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2013
The recipe as written has too much oil. I cut it down to 1 cup. I also cut down the sugar to about 1 and 3/4 cups because I used milk chocolate chips. I used 1.5 cups instead of 2 of the chocolate chips. Along with the cinnamon called for I added cloves and nutmeg. With these changes the muffins were delicious!

Simple Cottage Cheese Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
The batter was too thick so it didn't spread well in the pan. They were thicker than I expected. I only had large curd cottage cheese, and that wasn't the best thing to use. Next time I will add use small curd and see if it spreads better, and I will add some cinnamon and vanilla next time. This is a great recipe though if you are watching your carb intake.

Slow Cooker Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
I seasoned the chicken with garlic salt when I put it in the slow cooker. I also waited until the last hour of cooking to add the cheese and the stuffing and butter. I'm glad I did, even with only cooking it for one more hour the stuffing was getting dried out on the edges. It turned out to be good with these changes.

Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2013
Great recipe, easy and delicious! I only had medium eggs in my fridge (you are supposed to use large for baking) so I added 3 eggs because the dough seemed too dry with just two, and I didn't want to increase the oil. I also exchanged the raisins with chocolate chips because my kids won't eat cookies with raisins in them. I made them bigger, about walnut size, and they turned out fabulously! The texture was just like a cookie, not cake-like for me. Definitely recommend this recipe when you are short on time.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
My husband made this recipe with the suggestions written by clegg_connie, which were to use cake flour or substitute some of the all-purpose flour for cornstarch (I didn't have cake flour) and to increase the milk to 3/4 c and to add 1/2 tsp salt. It was his first time making a cake from scratch, and it turned out great! It was sweet and moist, and we actually ended up eating some of it without frosting because we didn't realize we were out of powdered sugar until he'd made the cake. So with these suggestions, it turned out wonderfully.

Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
This was my first time making dumplings from scratch. They turned out to be really easy and delicious! I didn't have parsley, so I added some Italian seasoning. That was a great choice. I also used real butter instead of margarine, something I do for everything I make. This is a great recipe!

Porcupine Meatballs III

Reviewed: May 24, 2013
I followed the recipe exactly, except I doubled it, and simmered my meatballs for 20 minutes in a big pot, and they are still not done. I am going on 40 minutes now. Just be aware if you cook it on the stove-top that 20 minutes is not long enough to simmer them.

Delicious Avocado Egg Salad

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
I didn't use celery because I don't like my egg salad to be that crunchy. This was delicious! I had never thought of using avocado in place of mayo. I'm glad I found this, I'm trying to cut mayo out of mine and my family's diet. Great recipe!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 5, 2013
Delicious cookies. Didn't spread, came out of the oven poofy, then flattened as they cooled. They are nice and chewy, and crisp on the outside. I made mine smaller, only used a tablespoon or so of dough per cookie, and baked them for 12 minutes. I didn't need to refrigerate the dough, I just beat the eggs, butter, and sugars and vanilla for several minutes until the dough turned a lighter color, as another reviewer suggested. Great recipe!
