About this Cook
I'm a 29 year old, make-up artist, from NY, now living in South Florida, and I love to cook! When I was growing up I always wanted to be a chef, but through high school I wasn't much into cooking anymore and realized my dream was to be a make up artist so that's my career of choice. I've recently started getting into cooking again and, although I don't want to do it professionally, I still love to do it and follow recipes well. I'm also getting pretty good at making things up, which is always fun!
My favorite things to cook
Anything chicken! Lol, I love it. I also like to bake and I love cooking very easy things that don't take long, but taste great!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma is the ultimate cook and most of the recipes she has were made up by her. Back in 2005 she was up visiting for the holidays and she taught me a few of the dishes that she used to make when I was younger and taught me how to make it, it was really special!
My cooking triumphs
Since I've joined this site, back in 2005, I've had many cooking triumphs. I've also become the main cook in my household since everybody loves my cooking so much.
My cooking tragedies
Oh too many to count, but you learn from your mistakes!

Pumpkin Pancakes
These pancakes were delicious! As suggested by another user, I put all the wet ingredients, along with the brown sugar and the spices, in my blender and I blended it all up until it was smooth. I then whisked it into the dry until it was well blended. The batter is a little thick, but if you scoop them out with 1/4 cup and spread the batter around a bit, they turn out so good. I also added another tablespoon of brown sugar and a bit more cinnamon, but those were the only changes I made. It's almost like eating pumpkin bread in pancake form. Would also be good with semi-sweet mini chocolate chips in them. Thanks for the recipe! It's a keeper.

Thick Cut-Outs
I don't think I can say enough good things about this recipe, to be perfectly honest. I made them for Christmas 2011 and they were amazing. They rolled out and cut super easy and they baked up perfect! The only change I made was I added about 1 tsp Vanilla and 1/2 tsp of Almond extract. Then when I made the icing I used only almond in it. They were so delicious and really easy to decorate.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
I just made these cookies today (12-21-2009) and they are fabulous! I did make some changes as suggested by others. I used two sticks of better, no shortening. I used baking powder in place of the cream of tartar and I also poured off just a little big of the egg white. They came out DELICIOUS. They're soft and chewy and have such a nice cinnamon flavor that isn't overpowering. I also used a melon baller to get my cookies, relatively, the same size when I rolled them. I will be using this recipe for years to come. Thank you for it!!
