Beer Brined Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
This recipe totally rocked! I have never had such tender juicy pork chops. The only thing I changed was maple syrup for the corn syrup (because I didn't have any corn syrup on hand). Thanks for a great recipe!

Garlic and Ranch Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
Overall, a great recipe, but needed a couple of tweaks. Had to add a bunch of bread crumbs to make the mix hold together, and next time I will add some grated onion and perhaps some chili flakes for kick.

Monkey Bread II

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
This tasted absolutely heavenly! My only concern/question was about the kneading... mine got stiff after only three kneads. I was afraid to go any further with it.

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
I am a novice when it comes to baking pretty much anything, so I have been a little daunted by bread. I really liked this recipe's flavour and texture, and how easy it was to just throw it all in the bread maker. The only thing I struggled with was shaping the dough. The buns sure didn't look as good as they tasted.

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
My husband and I really liked this crust. I'm giving the recipe four stars because while I was forming the dough I had lots of questions... how do you properly prepare a pizza pan? How do I go about stretching the dough? Do I need to flour the board I was working on? Do I cover the shaped dough with a damp cloth? It tasted great, but was a little frustrating getting there.

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I really liked this recipe as a starting point. When I tasted the marinade prior to adding it to the chicken and potatoes, I found it lacking so I added lemon juice and garlic. I think it would also do well with sundried tomatoes or some pesto.

Mediterranean Puff Pastry Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I made this for valentines day, following the recipe to a t. It turned out beautifully! It was my first time using puff pastry and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I'm looking forward to experimenting with different combinations of meats and cheeses.

Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I love this classic bake sale square! I'm not a fan of coconut, tho, so I did as another commenter suggested and added a cup of rice krispies to the mix with the marshmallows.

Chicken Chorizo on Quinoa with Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I'm giving this recipe five stars because it got me thinking in a different direction. Due to flavour preferences and what I had on hand, my dish became more of an Italian rather than Spanish inspired dish, but it was wonderful. And it got me to try quinoa (which is now a staple in my kitchen!)...

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I followed the suggestions of several commentors and used ricotta in this recipe with great results. The only thing I would do differently next time is bake the hashbrown crust for a bit longer before adding the egg mix. **Editted to add** The second time I made this I used cottage cheese, and found that I prefer the ricotta. Also, I added some chopped fresh spinach and a couple of seeded diced tomatoes and it was great.

Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
This recipe makes a lovely and tasty side dish, and comes together very quickly and easily. I like this as an alternative to the more labour intensive risottos I have made.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
This was outstanding! The only thing I would do differently next time I make it is I would removed the fins from the underside of the portobellas. They gave the dish a funky brown/grey colour.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
My husband and I really enjoyed this recipe. The only changes/additions I made: added a bit of diced onion, used all the sauce on only two chops, and reduced the cooking temp to 325 for 40min (for two double cut boneless chops). Excellent recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Not that this recipe needs any more props, but WOW... I have never had a cake turn out this good! This is my new favourite cake recipe.

Southwestern Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Loved the flavours and combination of textures in this dish. Next time I think I would add the tomatoes at the same time as the stock, as the dish turned out slightly watery for me. Was a great accompaniment to baked chicken breasts.

Ricotta Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
Yum! Nice and light. I used Splenda instead of sugar to make this a more diabetic friendly recipe. Instead of using sprinkles, I mixed a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg into the glaze. They tasted like light little cinnamon rolls. The only thing... my cookies stayed in the ball shapes, they didnt spread at all. I wonder if I did something wrong?

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
I love this recipe! Granted I made a few modifications (some of which I won't make again). I used long grain brown rice, which means I had to increase the liquid and the cooking time. I also added half a chopped chipotle pepper in adobo that I had left over ofrom another recipe(ended up being a tad to spicy for us). I also added a bit of lime juice and zest at the end.

Tilapia Soft Tacos with Chipotle Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Admittedly, my husband and I don't like things quite as spicy as this recipe is, we really liked it. Next time I will cut down to 1 chipotle pepper for the sauce, and that will be just right for us. Also, I think next time I will combine all the spices together and dust the fish with it before frying. Maybe that will give it a more even coatng.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
This was a great change from a regular beef chili. It was very easy to make and I enjoyed the unique flavour of the cinnamon in it. The only thing I didn't enjoy about it was how it looked. Honestly, it looked pretty unappetizing.

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
Very yummy! My only modifications... I used chili powder in place of cayene (I was out) and added some rosemary. The drippings made an awesome gravy, just added a little worscestershire sauce.
