Cornflake Waffles with Honey Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
very good. I didn't do the sauce this time because I was in a hurry (starving). I'll try it next time though. I was surprised at how fluffy these are. I did add a little vanilla extract (because I put vanilla in everything) but that's the only change I made. You have to finely crush the flakes, though. I put mine in the food processor. I think it would be funny to have larger chunks of corn flakes in them if you didn't crush them very fine.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
Ok. I'm re-reviewing this. Still awesome every time I make them. I've altered it only slightly. I always add vanilla to any pancake recipe. They always need vanilla. Also, I've tried this with brown sugar instead of white and it's good. I sift the flour first so they come out fluffier and I use 1 tablespoon baking powder. I only use a few grinds of salt from the grinder instead of the whole teaspoon. I sometimes don't put in salt at all. Kinda like cookies, I don't really know what the point of salt is in a sweet recipe. I use egg beaters instead of real eggs; saves calories and cholesterol. I also use Smart balance instead of real butter or margarine to decrease the fat. Love this recipe. Its the only one I use.

Cube Steak Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
I hate cube steaks (too tough) but I keep ending up with them as my husband's relatives have cows on their farm and they give us lots of meat. Every cube steak recipe I've tried is terrible but I'm going to try this one tonight. I'll update after my husband's verdict. UPDATE: It was ok. still a little bland (husband said it didn't really have any flavor, I agree) but better than other cube steak recipes. I did what another reviewer recommended and baked them with the sauce on so the juices could penetrate and hopefully make less chewy. Didn't really work. Also, you need about double of the flour and cracker mixtures to cover four steaks. Unless you have tiny steaks, but mine were pretty big.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
My husband says it has good flavor and that I should make it again. I did add a little habenero powder (super spicy) to it because we like spicy. very good easy meal!

French Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I've made these 4 or 5 times and they are always great. I usually dissolve the sugar in warm water then add ice cubes to cool it down before I soak the potatoes and I fry them for 2 minutes, take them out and then fry them for another 6 or so minutes and they are perfect. Better than McDonalds. :)

Deluxe Waffles

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
These tasted to bready. The recipe called "waffles 1" was much better. These ones were light and fluffy but even though I added vanilla, they still had no flavor. I think there was too much egg. It made it seem very bland. I think I"ll stick with "waffles 1"

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Very good. Much better than the last hot chocolate recipe I tried from this site that tasted like warm milk with a chocolate chip floating in it. (it was bad). This was very chocolaty and sweet and was much more like store bought hot cocoa. I didn't measure precisely, just eyeballed it, but I'm sure I got darn close to the actual measurements and it was not too sweet at all. The only disappointment was that I cut the recipe in half because I was only serving myself and my husband and it didn't fill 2 mugs to the top, only about halfway on each. So if you are expecting to get 4 full mugs of hot cocoa from the 4 servings it lists, you better have small mugs. Next time I know to use the full recipe for two people.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
5 stars for taste but really really crumbly. It completely fell apart when I tried to ice it and ended up a crumbled mess around all 4 sides. But it tastes wonderful so it gets 4 starts. 1 star for presentation.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
Fantastic. I had never made waffles before but got a waffle maker for my wedding last week and really wanted to try it out. These were great. I added just a little more vanilla (because I like things vanilla-y) and separated the egg whites, beat them and folded them into the batter at the end as another reviewer suggested and these were the best waffles I have ever had. Will definately use this recipe over and over again. I have some batter left over and will see tomorrow how it keeps in the fridge.

Very good. I wish it was a little thicker. I think next time I might use tomato paste or sauce in it to thicken it up. Really good flavor though.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This was pretty good for non-authentic "fried rice." I don't think it is as good as in a chinese restaurant but for making at home quickly it isn't bad. My fiance really likes it and gave it 5 stars. It's good but not THAT good.

very good side dish. better than I expected. I just needed something to use the egg I accidentally broke and found this! I will make these again for sure! I used instant mashed potatoes and grated red potato with skin on.

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly except for I used club crackers instead of saltines because that's what I had and I followed another reviewer's suggestion of dredging in flour before the egg (which is way better than straight to the egg. I did one without dredging first and all the crust fell off that one right away, but not the others). I don't like when people give something a bad review if they changed the recipe, but I don't think my change really made any difference on this one. It must be just me but every time I try to cook chicken on the stove it ends up burning. I had the heat turned down to almost nothing and it still burned before it got anywhere near cooked on the inside. I ended up taking it off the stove and putting it in the oven to finish cooking because I was afraid I was going to burn my house down. I'm surprised my smoke detectors didn't go off. I'll try this again but next time I'm going to bake it instead of cooking on the stove. Also, don't use whole chicken breasts unless you pound them flat because they just end up burning before they get cooked in the middle. I'll update my review when I try it again baked in the oven. I don't think it will hold a candle to the Deviled Chicken recipe on this site though. That recipe is awesome. sorry chicken fried chicken.
