Italian Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
I had to make a few substitutions: ground turkey instead of ground beef, jarred marinara sauce instead of tomato sauce and herbs, veggie broth instead of beef bouillon and water, and white beans instead of kidney beans. I didn't have any celery but I did add 1-2 cups chopped kale. This soup can be easily modified and still taste very good.

Seven Layer Dip I

I thought this could use a little more pizzazz. Next time I'll add taco seasoning to the ground beef.

Lemon Chicken Tenders

My family really liked this but next time I'll only use 1/4 c sugar. I thought it was a little too sweet.

Good but a little dense. I don't think mine rose enough.

Upside Down Pumpkin Cake

I liked this better after it was chilled in the fridge (as opposed to warm from the oven).

Perfect Berry Shortcakes

Grating the butter was a pain, but at least I didn't have to roll out the dough. The shortcakes were delicious!

Very moist and made 24 nicely shaped cupcakes, but I'm not sure I love the cinnamon.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Good and filling. Don't forget to top it with tortilla chips, salsa, a little bit of shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream. It's so quick and easy to make!

Meringue Kisses I

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2010
I followed the recipe perfectly but these came out of the oven looking very much like when they went in. They were white and shiny with a very chewy texture and I didn't care for the taste. I put them back in the oven at 350F for 15-20 minutes and they came out much better - dry and crisp on the outside with a little bit of a chewy center. I liked them much better that way. Also, I used grated chocolate instead of chocolate chips.

Mardi Gras King Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
This was really good but I would have liked more filling and glaze. Next time I'll double those and I'll connect the two rolls to form one big oval instead of two small ones.

Moroccan Tagine

This was so, so good! I left out the chicken, added a few cups of chopped kale (because I had it on hand), and served it over couscous. So yummy! I'm adding it to my rotation.

This was really good but too salty. Next time I'll use just 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce.

I made these with white chocolate but the chocolate sauce was too thin. Next time I'll use less sweetened condensed milk.

These are pretty and taste great but mine look nothing like the picture. They came out very flat. Next time I'll use cake flour and see if that helps.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This was delicious! It was my first turkey and I was determined to do it right - no dried out turkey for my family! I brined the turkey for about 14 hours and then followed these instructions to season it, although I altered the rosemary mixture a little bit. I poured 2 cups of chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan (rather than a 1/4 inch of water). I basted the turkey every 30 minutes or so during cooking and added water a few times. Everyone agreed that the turkey was really moist and flavorful. This is the only turkey recipe I'll ever need.

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This was really good. It tastes exactly like you would expect orange juice and cranberries to taste. I think next time I'll do 3/4 c orange juice and 1/4 c water to tone down the orange juice flavor.

Challah I

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I followed this recipe with no additions or deletions and it was really good. I wasn't so sure it would turn out that way, though. Eight cups of flour was not enough for me - I must've added two additional cups to the dough to get it to the right consistency. It also took a long time to rise - 2 1/2 hours instead of 1 1/2.

My husband and I will never go back to plain tuna and mayo. This is delicious. The dill weed and rosemary are what 'make' it.
