Simple Salisbury Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
I seasoned the ground beef with salt and pepper and I also doubled the amount of bread crumbs and my steaks didn't fall apart. I grated the onion with the large holes of a cheese grater, and it helped the onion meld with the meat better instead of having big chunks of chopped onion in the steaks, and it was faster than chopping to boot!

Sausage Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
Good, like another reviewer said, the jarred sauce in combination with the sausage was fairly salty. I did change the recipe based on others' reviews. I used turkey Italian sausage. I also sauteed sliced button and cremini mushrooms, minced garlic and mixed them with the sausage and alfredo sauce. Instead of extra jarred sauce, I used an equal amount of milk and 1 TB unsalted butter/flour roux. I also replaced the Cheddar with mozz and I used fresh spinach, wilted, squeezed of water and chopped, mixed in with the cheeses. I baked 35 min with the foil on, 10 min with the foil off to brown the cheese on top. Because of the saltiness, I think next time, I'll use 1/2 sausage 1/2 ground beef or turkey. Also, I'll add a little ground nutmeg to the alfredo...

Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
My husband and I love this non-cream of mushroom soup based slow cooker roast! I buy 4lbs of roast and trim the fat and silver between the muscles (which the meat ends up being about 3lbs). I cover the roast with low sodium beef broth instead of water and used the onion/mushroom dry soup mix. After 8 hrs, I put in 1lb of cut up red potatoes, half a package of baby carrots, 1 8oz package of rinsed baby mushrooms, 1 large cut up onion, 1/2lb cut up parsnips. In 4 more hrs, the meat is tender and the veggies have soaked up the delicious broth. Thanks for the base of a wonderful, yet easy meal!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2007
These lil' bad boys disappeared out of my crockpot at a recent gathering. I baked them to the recipe and there were still bits of unmelted brown sugar on top, but those crunchy bits were my favorite part! All my friends asked me to make them again!

Egg in a Boat

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
It was called Eggs in a Hole where I'm from. I like using 3 inch cookie cutters in different shapes to cut out the hole in the toast, and I fry the little toast "cutout" and serve that up, too!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
These were delicious, but they were only chewy when they were warm even after baking them for 7 min. Is there a way to keep them chewy in the centers?

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
I have made this twice; the first time, it wasn't that great, but I didn't thin the potatoes with the cooking water enough and I left them on too long. I tried again following the recipe exactly, and they came out perfectly! Everyone loved and raved about them, and left me plenty of counter space!

Portabella Mushroom Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
This was delicious. The only changes I made was to use vegetable broth for my vegetarian guest and I did use all the broth stated in the recipe, but I also used a 16oz bag of stuffing instead of the 12oz called for. It was the first thing gone from the table!
