My favorite things to cook
Marinated meats for the grill. Yummy appetizers that make people smile and comfort foods like turkey pot pie and fettuccini! I love to take a bunch of cook books and take all different ingredients to satisfy some craving I'm not sure what it is but just create something good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was a wedding cake baker but also cooked really well too. She wasn't as adventurous and wouldn't use ingredients she didn't like but I love everything and so took her love for cooking and I try to kick it up a notch. I am no baker though!
My cooking triumphs
Beer can chicken...they were fighting over the bones! Recreating my husbands childhood favorite dish hamburger cassarole. My fresh tomato and basil from my garden bruchetta is always a hit and there is never any left over for me!
My cooking tragedies
Lentils!! I had no idea how long they took and I mixed them in with keilbasa and they didn't thicken up and I was nicely asked to NEVER cook the doo-doo lentil dish again. Not to be confused with my tuna doo-doo cassarole which I also have never made again. When I was younger and trying to learn to cook I made rice and gravy..unbeknownst to me rice cooked less then I thought and I used gravy starter...not my father's favorite dish. HAHA - Oh and for a charity event I signed up to make a cake and I didn't realize recipe meant brewed espresso and I didn't have any so I used coffee grinds..it was not so good..my father compared it to eating dirt mixed with some cake-like ingredients - but hey I was only 20!
