About this Cook
I am a busy mom of two who mostly stays home with the kids. I go to school and pick up some serving hours at a restaurant. I have a wonderful husband who I love, even though he is a picky eater! I mean really, who dislikes beans in chili?!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking most anything, but I feel best when I am cooking and teaching my children about healthy choices and nutrition.
My favorite family cooking traditions
BBQ. My family is the NASCAR watching beer and whisky drinking bar-bquers. My husband and children are a little more refined, and prefer wine, although I love my whisky and BBQ too!
My cooking triumphs
My chili is rockn'. I am also a wiz at hiding nutrition in things that don’t seem to be the most nutritional, such as mac and cheese, spaghetti, and even chili dogs! I am proud that my 6 year old loves my food, and knows about Good vs. Bad food choices.
My cooking tragedies
Baking! I can cook just about anything, but can't bake very well. I have not given up hope yet!

Bangin' Banana Bread
Wow! Only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because i made some changes. I used about a 1/4 cup white sugar and added about 1/4 cup brown sugar. I also did not measure my bananas; I just added 3 super ripe ones. I used whole wheat pastry flour as well. It is SO good! Thanks!

Jamie's Minestrone
Great recipe! I feel the need to point out the nutrition error in a previous review. I am a dietician and Jamie's recipe is very healthy. I subbed whole wheat pasta and used low-sodium broth and tomatoes, rinsed the beans before adding to the soup and use fresh or frozen veggies. I don't know where the reviewer got some of the numbers but I just made the soup and can say that the sodium is NO WHERE near 1267 per serving (when using lower sodium products). Fresh is ALWAYS better than canned and pre-made. Great soup Jamie!
