Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
I made this cake for my husbands birthday. I tried to use my new cake decorating skills and I think for the first try it turned out pretty good. I did have to put the cake in the freezer a few times to harden it during the process, but still very fun to make and my husband loved it. Thank you!

Glenn's Marinated Pork Shoulder

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
This seems like one of those recipes that no matter what you do you can't get it wrong. I didn't even have time to marinate the meat. I figured I'd just try it anyway to see if it still works. I put the marinade in an iron skillet and cooked it medium heat till bubbly, then I put the meat in the skillet and seared both sides. Then put it all(covered with foil) in the oven at 400 degrees using the meat thermometer to check for doneness. I also added 2 extra onions to the marinade. I did not have any garlic to add so I doubled the amount of garlic powder. It was still very good. It was even better on sandwiches the next day. This is a keeper for sure. Thank you Glenn for this outstanding recipe!

Jamaican Patties

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
I used Kitchen Bouquet Browning and seasoning mix instead of the Maggi liquid seasoning since I didn't have it on hand. I think that does make a difference in flavor. I ate one straight out of the oven! Both of the seasonings should be in the spice isle of the store. Thank you for sharing!

Homemade Creme Liqueur

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
This was so wonderfully simple and tasty! we have access to fresh eggs so we used those, I used amaretto liquer instead of the coffee since that what i happened to have on hand, I think I will use a bit less amaretto since 1 cup made it quite strong, maybe the coffee liquer is not so strong, serve it up in a frosty glass and it's amazing!

Spring Roll Wrappers

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2006
These are exactly what I've been looking for. They are similar to the store-bought kinds. I deep-fried my eggrolls and they turned out crisp and yummy. I will no longer waste my money on store-bought now that I've found these. Thank you very much!

Dulcia Domestica

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2006
This recipe was sooooo good, I loved the aroma of the dates, pinenuts and the wine as it was cooking. It was a nice after dinner treat. stuffing the dates was not so bad as long as you don't chop the nuts to fine. Thank you for a wonderful recipe. Most certainly worth a try.

Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2007
This really does taste like something you would find at an expensive coffee house. I used fat free sweetened condensed milk and fat free half and half, I also added about a tablespoon of Kaluha to my glass. since my blender is a quitter when it comes to crushing ice, I put the ice in a plastic bag and hit it with a mallet to break it up a bit, then I put the ice in the blender to finish the job. Thank you for sharing this recipe and saving us all some money!

Sugarless Applesauce Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
This is a great tasting cake. I used spenda Brown sugar instead of the sugar twin. Be sure to read the label before using since you use a lot less. was very good w/ fat free caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
I wanted to try this recipe since it was a much faster way of making baguettes w/o using some type of starter, I admit I was skeptical, but they turned out great for making subs. One change I made was I added about 4 tsps(read the pkg directions)of vital wheat gluten to the dough when adding the dry ingriedients. Then I proceed with the recipe as usual. It improves the rise and texture of the finished loaf.
