I'm a first time grandmother of the most wonderful little girl in the world and can't wait to teach her the things my grandmother and mother have taught me. I have 3 grown daugthers (only 1 shares the joy of cooking with me)and married to a wonderful man. Living in South Louisiana, I have grown up watching my parents and grandparents cook etoufees, gumbos, rice and gravy, etc. so those are my favorites to cook. Food has been the center of every family gathering. Everyone always ends up in the kitchen and eventually gets "shooed out" by the host, too many cooks in the kitchen I had a difficult time leaning to make a roux, there's a saying in Louisiana "first you make a roux" I burnt so many, someone said "first you make a roux then throw it out the window!"
