Butter Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
I added 1 teaspoon of baking powder in thinking it won't rise without baking powder. My cookies tasted buttery and not So sweet...delicious!..crispy and buttery..I also wanted to be creative --- I wanted to make jelly filled cookies, but thought their recipes would yield flavorless cookies(and that the only thing good would be the jam). I tried putting a dollop of jam in the center of these cookies to make "buttery jelly filled cookies." I just pressed down in the center of the cookie making a penny sized well or so, and scooped on jam...I baked them at 350 first to see I'd they would cook, but seems like for my oven, they needed to be at 400. So I raised the temperature to 400 and baked until edges are golden brown...which should take around 10 minutes or So. The cookies don't have to be brown in color..They probably taste best at a beige color with ONLY golden EDGES. My cookies stayed white, revealing the color of the jam in the middle..soo pretty. Thank you soo much for the recipe. Those who gave this recipe 1's are people that didn't follow instructions and don't know how to bake.

Peanut Butter and Honey Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
Great recipe! ..I'm not a fan of peanut butter sandwiches..not that I hate peanut butter, love it...just not as a sandwich ingredient.. but I actually finished the whole sandwich! The honey added extra flavor! ( I used 4 slices of bread to make 2 sandwiches...to lessen the calories)

Soft Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Oh my god, these peanut butter cookies were everything I was looking for!!! I stumbled across so many recipes that used waay too much peanut butter. I don't need all that excess calories and fat. Don't ever think using less peanut butter will lack flavor. These cookies are purrfect! I put all the ingredients together into a dough, and then realized I forgot the egg. I took the dough apart and added the egg. I thought it was going to turn out bad...but it didn't!..The cookies were fantastic! You can't go wrong with this recipe!...Oh, REMEMBER TO ADD PEANUTS!....

Fresh Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I altered the recipe: 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 or less white sugar, 1/2 cup butter, canned pineapple slices, the water (A little more than 3/4 cup as desired) in my canned pineapples as the pineapple juice, and only as much pineapple it took to cover my pan (a lot less than 1 whole pineapple), 375 degrees- until done. Remember to rotate the pan every now and then to prevent burning. The cake turned out GREAT. I don't know why some people said their cake turned out dry...It's a Pineapple Upsidedown Cake!!!...Geez, it's not supposed to be moist, like your regular cake!!!....

Peanut Butter Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
Delicious, easy, and quick. Leave them in the oven for more than 12 minutes, to make sure they were cooked. I used chunky peanut butter, and added white chocolate chips for extra flavor.

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
This is a perfect recipe with many options!!! I used spaghetti, garlic, salt, sugar, milk, butter, all purpose flour, and chicken instead of shrimp. I seasoned it according to my taste, and it turned out purrrrrfect!!..And of course, it would taste great as the orignal recipe as well!

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
These cinnamon rolls turned out very pretty. They rolled up very nicely and looked like they'd come from a bakery when they were done. However, I'd have to say they were sort of dry. I had a feeling they would be somewhat dry before I even baked them, because the recipe only called for 1 package of yeast. I have tried other cinnamon rolls recipes before, which also used only 1 bag of yeast and came out sort of dry. However, these tasted pretty good. I did added some frosting to spice up the sweetness. Some people might want to eat these without extra frosting, as they still taste great without it.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
This was my 1st time making pizza. I followed the recipe exactly. It looked just like the pizza doughs I see at the bakeries. I added 1 egg and an egg yolk just because it seemed too dry; I addded as much extra flour as I needed for a workable dough. I thought it wouldn't turn out right because I changed the recipe..but IT DID!!!....my pizza was big and raised high! It was yuuuuuumy!!!!...I give this recipe more than 5 stars!!!.....at least 10 stars!!!!

Crazy Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I just made this today. The recipe didn't talk about sifting the flour, but I did anyways...In hoping that my cake will rise higher. The cake turned out beautiful! It was soft, moist, big, and delicious (even when I halved the recipe)! I used a LITTLE less sugar (for my personal preference). IT'S MY FIRST TIME MAKING CHOCOLATE CAKE FROM SCRATCH, AND I SUCCEEDED BIG TIME!!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
I finally found the recipe to pancakes made from scratch!!! This is a perfect basic recipe for pancakes. You can add a little more milk or not depending on your taste. If you prefer drier pancakes, use the recipe the way it is(or reduce the milk if you'd like); if you prefer pancakes a little more moist, add about 1/8 a cup more milk or however you'd like depending on what you prefer. I make mines WITHOUT butter (which means no fat for me to worry about), and it turns out great! I also often add a half teaspoon or so of vanilla for extra flavor. You can add any type of flavoring extract you prefer. This recipe will stay in my cookbook forever.

Savory Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
I halved the recipe and used pineapple cake mix as an alternative. I followed the directions exactly just like it was yellow cake mix. I added some nuts and cubes of fresh apples to make something like "apple pineapple Cinnamon rolls" ^__^..And know what?? It still turned out wonderful!!! Thank you so much for the recipe.

Best Ever Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
Deelicious! The dough is pretty hard to work with," but that's because the recipe calls for yellow cake mix. I'm pretty sure it'll be okay with white cake mix as well (another cinnamon rolls recipe uses white cake mix and the dough is actually easier to work with).

Jo Jo's Favorite Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
I'd give this recipe 10 stars if I could. This recipe is great! You can alter easily, just stick to the basics. The muffins turn out great! They were soft, moist, and wonderful! I added some walnuts, which gave it more flavor. You can also add raisins, dried berries, or any ingredient that you often find in muffins. I added extra bananas, some extra flour to make up for the extra bananas, and some extra baking soda and baking powder to make a bigger load. I didn't even measure or use the calculating option. I was having a feeling that it won't turn out good, but actually turned out great!

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This recipe should be called "Custard." It tastes just like custard. This is my first time making custard. I've been looking for a custard recipe since I started baking. I've tried every recipe that was labeled with some type of "cream," and none of them turn out to be custard! This was my last hope...And it turned out terrrriffffiicc!!! It tastes EXACTLY like the custard you'd often find in doughnuts, cakes, pastries, etc. Also, this recipe is great, because it is almost impossible to make a mistake.

Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Delicious cinnamon rolls...I didn't care about the fact that it needs more time in the oven. You should know to keep it in the oven for longer through common sense, if you're a good baker. Anyways, the cinnamon rolls were great! They were soft and tasted like they were bought at Mrs. Field's! I loved them. These were the first cinnamon rolls I've ever made, and they turned out a success! First time users of yeast need to remember that the recipe calls for WARM water, not boiling or much hotter than warm....or else, your cinnamon rolls won't turn out looking like cinnamon rolls. The rolls should stay in the oven for about 30 - 45 minutes, depending on your desired taste. But to be cooked thoroughly, they should be in the oven for about a little more than 30 minutes.

Banana Muffins with a Crunch

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
Delicious!!!...I DID NOT follow the recipe exactly. I reduced the sugar to 1 and half cup, and I did not include the extra chopped banana. The muffins came out tasting as if they were made from a box of Betty Crocker muffin mix.

Cinnamon Sugar Butter Cookies II

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
These cookies turned out pretty well. They were soft and flavorful. Some extra cinnamon should be added to the dough for extra flavor. Slightly reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe for a lighter taste (optional).

Whipped Frosting I

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
I used corn oil (cut in half the amount of shortening from the recipe) , low-fat milk, and butter, instead of shortening, whole milk, and margarine. The recipe still turn out well. I also used a hand mixer to mix the ingredients together. It ended up looking exactly like whipped frosting, the recipe I was looking for.

Ham Fried Rice

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
I was looking all over for a fried rice recipe that uses egg and ham. This recipe fitted what I was looking for. Instead of using garlic powder, I minced and fried fresh garlic before adding rice. I then added ginger and some green onions. I also used garlic salt to add some taste. The rice turned out great. I sometimes don't add the egg to the rice while frying, I just fry the egg alone and it eat along with the rice.
