Buttermilk Syrup

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2006
This is heavenly! My husband, who wants everything simple and the same every single day, groaned when I told him I was making homemade pancake syrup. I really did it out of necessity since we were so low on our store-bought syrup. Needless to say he love it and won't eat store-bought anymore. Plus he raves on and on to everyone about how great it is and that it's the best he's ever had. Thank you, so delicious!!

Old Fashioned Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
Made this recipe this evening and it is VERY good. I also noted there is no measurement for the flour in the dumplings and flour for making the gravy. For my dumplings I just did about 1 1/4 c. and 1/4 c. for the gravy. The dumplings are delicious and have the perfect amount of salt for our tastes. Hubby, (who turns up his nose at dumplings) commented on how great this smelled. A keeper!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2006
This is a staple in our house!! I omit the milk and just guesstimate on the ketchup & brown sugar...I'm sure I use less than called for but it's a no fail recipe. I've been making this recipe for about 3 years and I don't even dare try another meatloaf recipe, (my husband would have a fit!). My husband who doesn't even like meatloaf loves it. Perfect!! My 16 month old loves it as well. Thank you!!!

Beefy Spanish Rice

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
This is very good! I made this last night and it was a hit for everyone ranging from age 3 up to 66 years old. :) I used regular white rice and I added chopped onion to those that like onions. I also used one 15 oz can of tomato sauce in place of the stewed tomatoes. We ate with tortilla chips and topped each plate with a dollop of sour cream and some salsa. Adding this to our regular rotation!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2006
These are delicious!! Pefect consistency!! I substituted fresh strawberries but I think they'd be great no matter how you fix them. I do have to agree that the crumble mixture makes a bit too much for the muffins but then again I made 12 regular size muffins so that may have something to do with have so much topping left over. Very good! A keeper for sure!

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2006
I was originally looking for a substitution for Oh My Chai by Tastefully Simple. While this Chai is VERY good, it is not the same. It is not as creamy as TS's but is still I will definately make it again. I did a few changes per a reviewers suggestions. I doubled the non fat dry milk powder and substituted 1 cup white + 1 cup brown sugar. I think I will add the additional 1/2 cup sugar next time as I like the sweetness of TS's Chai. One nice thing...there is no cup "residue". Bottom line, if you're wanting an exact match to Tastefully Simple's Chai, you won't find it, but it still SO good...once my TS stash runs out...this will be my standard.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
I made these for my husband...they are a little work but well worth it. He loved them! I omitted the milk altogether and they came out nice and creamy. I did make the mistake of letting the potatoes cool way down, which made them harder to handle. in spite of my mistake they tasted wonderful! 5 Stars!

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
I need a hot drink fix and was all out of Chai so in desperation I made this hot cocoa. I scaled it down to 1 cup and made it in the microwave. I also scaled down the sugar, it was very rich and creamy, (I used skim milk plus the half and half). Very good. This one goes in my recipe book. Thank you!

Buttermilk Pancakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
I love these pancakes, very basic but so delicious! My family is very big on pancakes and I've searched for just the right one...finally it's here! We all ooo'd and ahhh'd as we ate them! Perfect!! I did make the following substitutions : 3/4 c all-purpose flour 1/2 c whole wheat flour, instead of buttermilk - I used skim with 1 TBSP lemon juice, brown sugar instead of white, & butter instead of oil. Also I didn't use a blender but rather mixed all the dry ingredients then cut in the butter with a pastry blender and added the milk/lemon juice mixture. Perfect!!!! Thank you!

Cinnamon Sour Cream Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2006
These biscuits were really great! Moist, perfect with the frosting. My husband and I just heat them up in the microwave for about 15 seconds and they are so yummy. The only thing I did differently was I soaked my raisins in hot water for about 10 minutes before adding them to the batter. Also, I prefer having more raisins so I think next time I'll do maybe 1 Cup of raisins. Very good! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!!!

Blueberry Oat Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
I was a bit skeptical about this recipe but wanted to make a different type of cookie from your standard chocolate chip. It is wonderful! Chewy and an awesome flavor!! I made the recipe as is...using butter, old fashioned rolled oats, and fresh blueberries. Was asked for the recipe by several people. A hit!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2006
This is the first negative review I've written for a recipe on Allrecipes. My husband who loves honey mustard did not care for this at all, neither did I. I have to agree with some other reviewers that the basil added a weird taste. Just wasn't appealing at all. I know tons of people like this chicken...definately not for our tastes! On the plus side, it was very easy to prepare so at least I didn't slave in the kitchen for hours. Will not make this again...woundn't even know how to improve on it as aside from the basil the glaze seems to be off in porportions and just altogether not what we're looking for. Sorry....
