Chicken Hurry

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
Quick, easy, and the kids loved it. I used a dozen or so drumsticks and had plenty of sauce to cover all.

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
I've made this twice so far this week (using one egg and adding more flour, flipping halfway through cooking), and it came out great both times. The second time, I added some fresh shredded basil and parmesan cheese, which complemented my toppings very nicely. This crust makes a tasty last-minute pizza.

Ham and Bean Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
This recipe was an ok way to use up some leftover ham, but it wasn't a hit with the family. It just seemed a little bland.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
I've never had risotto before, so there's nothing to compare this to, but we just didn't like it. It had a gluey texture, and the mushrooms made it taste dirty. And this is coming from a couple of mushroom freaks! I wouldn't make this again.

Sausage Steamed Dinner

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
This recipe is really good! I cooked it in the slow cooker with about 1 1/2 cups evaporated milk instead of water to make it creamy, and it might have actually worked if I'd added more milk as it cooked out. Spicy sausage gave it a nice kick, too. I'll definitely make this recipe again.

Avocado Dressing II

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I made this with fat free yogurt because I didn't have any sour cream. After tasting it, I remixed it using an additional avocado. A previous reviewer was right when stating this was more like a dip than a dressing, so that's how we're eating it. I'll try making it again using sour cream to see if improves the flavor.

Ted's Beef Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
With the exception of swapping fresh mushrooms for the peas, I followed this recipe exactly. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, the consistency was great, but the stew didn't have one bit of flavor. I added some tomato paste and wine just before serving, which helped a little. I'd like to try this recipe again; maybe to figure out what went wrong. Also, personal preference, but the cornstarch seemed to give the stew a slimy feel. No one else commented on that, though.

Curry Cheddar Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
These were a little rich for my taste, I think because of the cheese. Dh liked them as is, though. Next time, I'll wait to sprinkle less cheese on the finished eggs.

Soft Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2006
I liked these because they weren't too sweet and they weren't crumbly. I took them to a bake sale and they were very popular.

Cheesy Creamed Spinach Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2005
I didn't use the cheddar topping, but stirred in some cheese tortellini after the casserole baked, and it was fantastic together!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
I cooked the chicken in a pressure cooker to save some time, then added it to the slow cooker for about an hour. Two cans of tomatoes and green chilis was too spicy for us, so next time I'll add one can of plain tomatoes and one can with chilis. Overall, everyone liked it!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
I followed another reviewer's suggestion and added the ground beef toward the end, and I left out the juice and added diced tomatoes. This pot of chili lasted less than 24 hours between 2 of us because we couldn't stop eating it!!

Oyster Stew

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
I had less than a pint of half-and-half and the same amount of heavy cream, so I combined them and added 1% milk to make a quart. I also added canned (hard to get fresh here!) oysters, clams and baby shrimp and the additional liquid didn't seem to affect the thickness. We enjoyed it very much.

My husband's taste requirements are simple, even boring, but I made these enchiladas last week and he can't stop talking about them!
