I've been making up recipes most of my life (which drove my parents crazy... it took about a decade before anything started turning out).
My favorite things to cook
I love to spend all day cooking great meals.... but being in grad school gets in the way. These days, I do a lot of grilling and crock-pot meals.
My cooking triumphs
Preparing a lovely brunch (2 kinds quiche, sticky buns, pesto tortellini, fruit salad, croissants).... for my own wedding (aagh!). Luckily, it was only for 20!
My cooking tragedies
Having to dump three crock-pots in a row of unsalvagable baked beans. Who knew you could even wreck baked beans, much less three attempts!

Creamy Potato With Rosemary Soup
Excellent soup.... although not as amazing as the Creamy Butternut also offered by Pam Anderson (try it!). I used an immersion blender, and left a few chunks of potato so it seemed like a heartier meal. Also, I used half a cup of half&half, and the rest 1%. Still rich and lovely.

Chewy Crispy Coconut Cookies
On their own, I would give these a higher rating, but I had really hoped for some chew. Sadly, these were just crispy- almost hard. I often add coconut to my oatmeal cookies, which stay chewy and crisp. In the future, I will just stick to this method, and avoid the hassle of cornflakes and hard cookies. But- for those who like a crisp cookie, this did have a nice flavor and was easy.

Cuban Black Beans II
This was great. My changes: 3 cans of beans, 3 cups of water, a few sprinkles of red pepper flakes, and no pimientos. I served this with sour cream and cheese, and no one used them- the beans were great on their own over yellow rice. A great, easy, low-fat meal, I'll make it again and again.
