Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2012
This was incredible! I have never cooked lamb before, and it turned out perfect. I loved the balsamic reduction - I was worried it would be too tart for me, but it really went great the the lamb.

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2012
This cobbler is amazing and so easy. I've made it both with fresh peaches, and frozen sliced peaches, and both times turned out good. The fresh peaches had a more tender texture, while the frozen ones were a little crisper, but both were great.

Broccoli and Cheddar Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
Only 4 stars as I did switch out some ingredients. I have never made quiche before, and this turned out great! It was the answer to "What's for dinner?" when I had only a hodge podge of ingredients. My changes: I used half of a red bell pepper instead of the mushrooms, and I substituted regular Best Foods Mayonnaise for the Miracle Whip. Also I used a standard frozen pie crust, not deep dish. Mine almost burned when I cooked it for 40 minutes, so I would suggest checking it at 30 minutes.

French Silk Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
Wow! I've never made a chocolate pie like this before, and it turned out great. I would have given it 5 stars, but I did add an extra ounce of chocolate, because, well, the more the merrier! The only word of caution I have is make sure you have a decent mixer. I was using a little single-beater hand held electric, and I swear I almost burnt it out a couple times with all the mixing that was required. I gave it a minute to rest in between adding eggs, but it still got really hot.

Homemade Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I am so happy with how this turned out. I forgot to get mushrooms, so I left those out, but the recipe was still very good. Also, I added carrots for a little color, and they went well with the soup. Next time I might try adding some more flavorings to the pork filling, it was a little bland. But overall, a really good recipe.

Cherry Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
I've never made cherry pie before, and this one turned out pretty good. I used about 2 lbs of cherries, so I don't think the suggested amount is enough. Also, I decreased the amount of almond extract because I know it has a tendency to be overwhelming. It adds an interesting flavor that sets it apart from other pies, but I might try leaving it out next time so that the flavor of the cherries can shine through.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
Pretty good, great with butter spread on them. I made regular shaped rolls instead of crescents. The only thing I will do different next time is brush on an egg wash to help them brown.

Clams Italiano

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
Absolutely wonderful. This was my first time making clams, and this recipe is easy and impressive. I only gave it four stars because I will omit the red pepper flakes from now on (though I know they were optional, I wanted to try it). They make the dish too spicy for me. Otherwise this dish is great! Thanks

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
AMAZING! I felt like a rock star after making these and sharing them with people. I can't wait to make them again. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the recipe for frosting makes way too much. It's delicious, sure, but half the frosting recipe is plenty. Also I used real butter, not margarine, for the roll recipe. Besides those little things, this recipe is awesome.

Beer Bread I

I've made this several times now and it's always great. Fresh out of the oven with butter is perfect. I took some other reviewers tips and made my own "self rising" flour.

Eggplant Au Gratin

I made this once about 2 years ago and for me it was a lot of work for little return. It tasted ok, but all I was tasting was sauce pretty much.

French Bread

I'm not an experienced bread baker, but I was not crazy about the way this turned out. It was ok, but too dense for my taste.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
My first time making regular white bread and I didn't ruin it! My bread was a little too dense for regular sandwiches (for my personal taste anyway), but it was great with butter and jam, and I also made delicious garlic bread out of it. I didn't get a chance to this time, but I suspect this would make a great bread for French Toast also.

Sarah's Applesauce

I always wanted to know how to make my own applesauce, and who knew it would be this easy? There is no reason to buy applesauce from the store with this recipe.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I use this recipe all the time now. A good stand-by. My batter often comes out too thick so I either start with less flour or just add more milk as needed. It's tricky though because I try not to over stir.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I give this dish 4 stars because it is sooo easy and satisfying. I cooked on low for about 10 hours as suggested by other reviewers, and it just fell apart deliciously. I made it for a couple of friends coming over for dinner and they loved it.
