I enjoy cooking, especially baking. If I didn't have to clean up the mess, I wouldn't mind spending all my time trying new recipes
My cooking tragedies
I was 13 and was making the bread for our family for the week. I discovered that bread without salt is pretty much inedible. The whole mess got crumbled up for the birds because no one else would eat it.

Bacon Mushroom Swiss Meatloaf
We really loved this recipe, but I did make some changes. I honestly couldn't see using 3/4 of a pound of bacon no matter how much I love the stuff, so instead I reduced it to 5oz of premium applewood and used 2 lbs of ground beef. For seasoning I added minced garlic to the mushroom and onion and a tsp of worchestershire sauce. Didn't have any corn flakes so used my normal crushed saltines. Everyone loved it and truthfully there was more than enough bacon flavor without so much fat.

Rye Beer Bread
I really enjoyed this recipe. I used a dark oatmeal stout, mixing a tablespoon or so of molasses along with the remaining sponge ingredients to sit overnight. To raise, I heated my oven to 200' then turned it off and put the bread in the oven loosely covered with parchment to double. I divided the dough into two bread pans to bake. Before placing in the oven I slashed the top of the loaves with a very sharp knife, to allow the bread to rise better. The resulting bread is chewy, beery, and yeasty-- awesome!

Quinoa and Black Beans
Fantastic! I've been trying to find a quinoa recipe that would please everyone and this is a winner. I added about 1tbls of chile powder for extra spice and diced a zuchinni for extra veggie. Was a big hit and will make again.
