About this Cook
My Father was a baker. His Dad was a logging camp cook. My Mom baked the best dinner rolls and bread ever! I love to wake up to the smell of homemade bread...nothing feels like "home" more than that to me! I hope to pass on my passion for food and family and art to my Daughter, who is already tasting and liking a great variety of foods at 2 years old. She loves her vegetables and of course has inherited her Mother's love of "goc-co-witz" (chocolate)!
My favorite things to cook
Whatever is in season. One of the things I miss so much about the Bay Area is the Farmer's Markets....I am on a first name basis with some of the local farmers and organic growers around here!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Bread, home made rolls, omlettes on Sunday made with secret sauce by my Dad. My Mother's turkey stuffing and holiday cookies! Since my Mother died last year, I will miss all of those holiday items that she made special.
My cooking triumphs
Getting admitted into Johnson and Wales University Culinary program. Meeting Emeril Lagasse BEFORE he was famous! Working in soup kitchens on holidays. My first newspaper review! Cooking breaKfast for Oprah. Successfully adapting recipes for my Husband's diabetes. Sharing my talent and love of all things fresh and seasonal flavors with underprivilaged teens at Seneca Center. My Dad telling me that he loved my food.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie
As a professional Chef married to a diabetic Husband, I look for recipes that are easily converted to no-sugar or low-sugar without sacrificing taste or presentation. This recipe is FABULOUS made in a low sugar version and very very simple to do. Substitute Splenda sweetener for the granulated sugar, substitute a low sugar graham cracker crust or make your own no sugar chocolate cookie crust like I did using store bought chocolate cookies crumbs with melted butter and pressed into a pie plate. Substiture low sugar peanut butter. The whipped topping from the store is already low sugar and then top with pieces of sugar free Reeses Peanut Butter cups and drizzled with sugar-free chocolate sauce. My family and friends never knew when I served it up that it was low sugar....until I told them!
