About this Cook
I am a newlywed, and I love cooking for my hubby. I like to try new things, and sometimes I will spend days researching a recipe. I like to try to find "authenic" recipes. Cream of mushroom soup works for some things, but it doesn't belong in everything that calls for mushrooms or gravy! When a recipe turns out better than expected, it is one of the greatest feelings of accomplishment!
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna, chili, enchiladas, and anything with basil and garlic.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up our birthday was made more special because everyone got to pick what they wanted Mom to make. She only cooked on Sundays, as she worked long hours at a job an hour away. She made the best food though. I love trying to re-create (or even improve a little?) the things she made.
My cooking triumphs
I recently started trying asian dishes, and the spring rolls and bulgoki turned out better than expected on the first try.
My cooking tragedies
My second try at the spring rolls was too salty (made the mistake of using up the last of the name-brand soy sauce that was way old) and the second try on the bulgoki I used too much habenero and it was overpowering (plus it brought tears to the eyes-dinner shouldn't be painful!)

Fajita Marinade I
I had tried a chicken fajita recipe from this site and found that the taste of the worcheshire sauce to be overpowering, so this was exactly what I was looking for. This one was much more authentic. I added cilantro, cumin, and coriander per previous reviews, and it came out perfectly! It was also my first time grilling as my husband usually does it. I am so pleased with the results! Even the our picky kids loved it. This will be in the regular rotation from now on.

Bacon and Macaroni Salad
Really want to give this one 4 1/2 stars. Made this last night and it turned out really good and it was easy! I didn't really change anything like I normally do, except that I don't like green olives so I skipped them. I halved the recipe, and it made more than enough for dinner. The only thing I will change next time is to use a little less vinegar, maybe a half tbsp less when doing a smaller batch, as it was just a little strong (it did mellow out after sitting overnight). Great recipe!

This was one of the best recipes I have found here. What I was hoping for and more! I had to substitute lime juice for the lemon cuz I was out, but I don't know if it made a difference (will try with lemon next time). Like others have said, this will become a regular dish at our home! Thanks for the great recipe!
