Fluffy and Delicious Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2014
This is definitely a keeper! My kids loved how big and fluffy they came out. I did omit the cinnamon and vanilla. I cut my white flour to 3/4 and put a 1/4 whole wheat flour, added 2-3 tb spoons of ground flax seed, eliminated the butter and added plain greek yogurt. You can't tell the difference without the butter and this & plus the flax add lots of protein. I did cook them on a lower heat because the batter is thick and takes longer to fluff up. I did add a little more sugar to sweeten them up for the kids but you can't really tell. I have made them 2x so far, and you can't tell the difference, so if you want to add protein try it.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2012
Came out awesome! I made minor changes. I doubled all ingredients, used 8 - 10 cups of cubed bread, about 3 1/2 cups milk, added 1/2 cup brown sugar, dash of clove & nutmeg, cooked rasins and walnuts in water and meyers rum. Drizzled a litte rum at the end over saturated bread and sprinkled cinnamon sugar mixture over the top. Came out awesome and next time may add fruit as some have suggested. Will make again.

Lentil Soup with Lemon

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2012
after reading many reviews and other recipes I wanted to make sure my soup had enough flavor and here is what I did. I think the soup came out really good and will make it again. use 1 1/2 cups lentils, used lots of garlic than suggested at least 8 mediums size cloves, at least a cup of carrots, 2 sticks of celery, added some garden riped tomatoes, used 2 - 3 tsp of cumin, doubles the chili powder, used ketchup instead of paste, tripled the broth ( mixed beef & chicken b/c I had it open) added a big squirt or 2 of siracha sauce, added 1 potatoe chunked big. I also added fresh baby spinach and broken spaghetti that I cooked separate. I did keep adding chicken broth as it was cooking to avoid all beans an no broth. I did puree some of the beans a potatoes for texture. The lemon and red wine vinegar do bring out the flavors in the soup.

Veal Chop with Portabello Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
This was by far an incredible dish and easy to make in a short time. I did make changes and take suggestions of others. I dip the chops in flour that I zipped up with salt, pepper, & garlic powder. As I browned the chops ( in a out 3tbl butter & oil) I added scallions, onions, mushrooms, fresh Rosemary, black pepper & dried sage. Added white cooking wine & chicken broth. I also added 3 to 4 cloves of smashed garlic for flavor. Put in the oven at 350 for about 35 minutes in my Dutch oven pan and served with couscous. Amazing dish with gourmet flavors.

I was looking for a quick meal and this worked out great! My husband and I both loved it. I doubled the evaporated milk, added more hot pepper to my sausage when frying and added some parm cheese at the end. It came out awesome and will definitely make this again.

German Baby

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
Never made a german pancake until now and I must say it is a great breakfast for just 2 or a large group. I have made it twice and both times it came out great. I did add vanilla and we squeezed fresh lemon on and oh does it make it taste way better.. Don't forget to heat up the maple syrup for and added touch. Loved it and will definitely be a keeper for the recipe box. The 2nd time I made it I had to bake in 2 round cake pans. I melted the butter first then quickly heated the pans and then baked. This worked out fine but did stick a little b/c I might not have split butter equally or could have been my pans. I also take the pancake out of my pan and cut up like a pie for easy serving.

Pappardelle Puttanesca

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
I used this as a base recipe and loved it. Mushrooms were great, I didn't measure anything but know that I used the full cup of white wine or more. Didn't use the anchovy. I added prosciutto, artichoke, calamata olives, dried tomatoes in oil and added some of that oil, did more like 3 tbs chopped garlic and 3 scallions chopped. Put over thin spaghetti... I added some goat cheese to mine and loved it. My husband added thin slices of a hard italian cheese. Will definitely make it again.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
This was my first time making Sheperds Pie and it turned out awesome. I took everyones advice and zipped up the flavor in the meat alot... I added garlic pepper, more salt and black pepper, steak sauce, onion powder, garlic powder. I used store bought red skin mashed potatoes and added sour cream and the chedder cheese. I did add some beef gravy to the hamburger mix and then pour a thin coat over the it when layering. I used corn, peas and carrots and loved the mix of veggies. I was able to make this ahead of time and was great as a left over.

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
This was a great and easy dinner... My husband loved it. I took everyones suggestions and altered the recipe and it turned out great. I didn't add the sesame or poppy seeds, I used balsamic instead of white vinegar, reduced everything to 1/4 cup, use 2 scallions instead of onion, added bacon, crumbled goat cheese, and added strawberries, pears and chicken . I also blended the dressing and added a touch of water. The chicken was frozen grilled chicken from wholefoods that I heated in a frying pan with fresh lemon juice and a little lawry salt... easy and quick.

Chicken Breast Cutlets with Artichokes and Capers

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
Just made this dish and we did not care for it at all. The marinated artichokes provide a horrible flavor. I think if I used regular artichokes the dish would have been good. I put it over egg noodles, didn't use the sauce and put tons of parm cheese to kill the taste of the marinated artichokes.

Herbed Marinated Lamb Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
I pretty much followed the recipe and found it to be blah... There wasn't enought zing to cut the gamey taste of the lamb. To save the meal I reduced balsamic vingar with a little black pepper and a couple of mint leaves to pour over the chops. I would never use this recipe again.

Hot and Tangy Broccoli Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
We loved it! I did make a few changes after reading the other reviews. I added 2 cloves of garlic, used 3/4 of a table spoon red pepper, chili oil instead of vegtable oil, used red, yellow & orange peppers instead of broc. and put over rice. The original recipe creates enough sauce which is nice with the rice. This definitely had flavored...
