Chocolate Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
This pie is easy to make and bakes up beautifully, but it's just too sweet for our palates. If you love chocolate, and have an awesome sweet tooth, don't pass this one up.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
I altered the recipe to reduce the fat content for my family. Twelve slices of bacon, cream, and cheese....I just could not do it, although it sounded good. Anyway...I used twelve slices of turkey bacon, fat free half and half, five eggs, half cup of minced onion with one clove of garlic, seasonings, and reduced fat Jarlsberg lite swiss cheese. I prepared the ingredients as directed, dividing everything between two pre-baked frozen pie shells ( I baked the pie shells for 12 minutes so that the bottom would be done/flaky) and baked as directed. The results were fabulous! My husband could not get enough of the quiche. He admitted that he did not think he'd like the dish, but was very pleasantly surprised. My six year old daughter loved it too. I'll be making this recipe again and again. I'm very pleased that it turned out so well after converting the recipe to a lighter version.

Good, but not worthy of five stars. The recipe as is one dimensional. Next time, I will add vanilla.

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
Sweet potato pie is a traditional dessert for Thanksgiving and Christmas in my household. This is the best I've had in forty years. This pie is easy to make and the perfect consistancy. My husband and three year old couldn't get enough.

Sweet Potato Pie II

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
I mixed this in my blender, which yeilded a very professional even texture. With that said, this recipe needs something more, it's a tad bland. Next time, I'll add vanilla, more of the spices, and brown sugar since it could have been a bit sweeter, too.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2013
This pound cake is very good as written, but I found it a bit too sweet for my taste. I will make this pound cake again making some of the adjustments suggested by many of the reviewers, which included reducing the amount of sugar among other suggestions.

Breaded, Fried, Softly Spiced Tofu

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Very good and easy to make. I've recently stopped eating pork, beef, and chicken and I'm making an effort to serve less meat to my family. This recipe fills the meat void. I followed the recipe as written and ended up with browned crispy nuggets that were really tasty. As others have stated, a sauce is needed. I mixed ketchup, soy and rooster paste for a spicey dipping sauce that was excellent. Next time I'll try a dipping sauce from this site. This recipe is a keeper!

American Frittata

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
Pretty good following the recipe as written. My husband and daughter did not like so many potatoes in this frittata. I love potatoes so I thought the ratio was yummy. Next time, I'll cut down on the potatoes, add two more eggs, and green onions. This recipe is easy to tweak to your liking.

Quick and Easy Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
This is so easy and so delicious. My family loved this bread. Here's how I made mine. I used pecans and vanilla instant pudding mix rolling each roll in butter, then the pudding/brown sugar followed by a roll in the cinnamon/sugar mix. I poured more of each mixture, butter, pecans on each of the two layers. As for the butter, I used half a cup and only ended up using half of the pudding/sugar mix-it just look like too much of a good thing to me. I placed the bunt pan filled with the softend rolls and sugar/butter concoction into my oven over night setting the oven on bread proof. I woke up six hours later to a mess since the rolls had risen so much that some of the sugar coated rolls fell out of the pan. After cleaning up the mess, I baked the bread and it was perfect for my family. I can't get enough of this bread. It is soo good. Enjoy!.

Garlic Prime Rib

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
Absolutely, hands down, the best prime rib I've had in my home or at a restaurant. I inserted about 15 fresh garlic slices in the meat, them added the marinade and let it sit in the fridge overnight. They'd the only alteration to the recipe as written. I served Sandra Lee's au jus as a side. My family were extremely complimentary about the meal which made my heart fill with happiness !!

Mom's Good Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2013
I have never worked with yeast so I searched for an easy recipe and let me tell you, this is it! My 10 year old daughter and I made these cinnamon rolls and they turned out perfect! They rival the cinnamon rolls I have had at a local bread shop in my town. The only changes I made was to add a bit of vanilla to the bread dough mix, rolled out the dough to a large rectangle shape, spread it with one tablespoon of good butter, added the cinnamon/sugar, rolled into a tight log and slice into 1 inch wheels, which I placed into a cake pan. After cooling the rolls, I slathered them with a vanilla glaze I found on this site (pretty good in a pinch). These were delightfully, light, and very delicious. We will definitely make these rolls again. Thank you, Marsha, for sharing your mother's cinnamon roll recipe.

Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
I did not make the dough. Instead, I purchased fresh ready made from my local grocery store. Also, I used mozzarella cheese instead of the cheddar since so many seemed to think it was the wrong cheese for calzones. The result was delicious.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
These are the BEST biscuits I have EVER made! They were easy to make, tall, flaky, and delicious. The only thing I altered from the recipe as written was to use buttermilk instead of milk and placed the dough in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to allow the baking powder to work it's magic. I HIGHLY recommend this recipe. Thank you, J.P. ! : )

Tuscan Soup

I altered this recipe since I am a vegetarian by using Field Roast vegan grain meatlike chorizo links and vegetable broth. Other than those changes, I followed the recipe as written. The result was a lovely delicious soup that was easy to prepare.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
Easy, moist, and delicious. I put a litte brown sugar on top before baking as one of the previous reviewers had done, which gave the bread a sweet crunchy top. Other than that, I followed the recipe as written. Great recipe!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

The soup is super easy to make and tastes fantastic. I took the advice of another reviewer and added another teaspoon on cumin, cilantro, and cheese and it was a hit with my family. My husband has asked me to make this recipe part of our regular meal rotation.

Sugar Coated Pecans

These are really easy to make and addictive. I made these for Christmas gifts putting them in inexpensive glass jars tied with ribbon. I'll be making these year after year for gifts since making them are much easier than cookies, which is a time saver for me.
