Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
Um? 300 year old MSG, huh? I doubt the authenticity of this recipe, and the results were fine. Nothing fantastic, tasted like any other egg roll I've ever had. But It definitely wasn't bad.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
I added about 1 cup of sweet corn and cooked this int he crockpot (low, 8 hours). I love how meat in the crockpot literally crumbles apart. I served this over white rice. If it weren't for the addition of sour cream and cheese I would've given it 2 stars. There just wasn't much flavor...perhaps it was because I cooked it in the crockpot? Either way, this was not a 4 or 5 star recipe for me like so many others think. Perhaps I'll try it once more in the oven. I thought it was bland.

Chunky Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
I love seafood/fish chowders and imitation crab and had really high hopes for this...I still can't believe just HOW MUCH I *didn't* like it! :( I found it pretty flavorless and the squishy texture of the imitation crab was very disconcerting.

Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
These are very tasty, delicious with a cream cheese frosting (I got lazy and bought the premade stuff)...and the little bits of crystalized ginger are ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL to bite into..extremely tasty...my husband and toddler give it 5 stars as well.

Cream Cheese Jalapeno Hamburgers

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
I am not a spicey girl. My husband can handle a bit more heat than I can and he had no complaints, and enjoys these burgers quite a bit. I won't be making them with the jalapeno next time because I'm too wussy. But the cream cheese stuffed burger is delicious..just a bit on the spicey side .

Shrimp Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I honestly can't remember how I ever got introduced to this recipe...but when I tried it I loved it. AND it reminded me of something I'd tasted and enjoyed in my childhood. When I make it I omit the celery (never have it on hand) and the hot sauce (not a spicey person) and it's still DELICIOUS. I like it chilled, better than warmed as some people have mentioned, but make sure to try it both ways!

Carrot Spread Surprise

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
Tasty. I had one of those "food memories" from my childhood when I tried this . I gave it 4 stars because the texture isn't pleasing for me. I stirred it together by hand but didn't like that texture either so I tried putting everything in the food processor to whip it up..that is better and now it looks and feels a bit like a grainy hummus. It is quite tasty though and I think most people would enjoy it. I made a half batch for my small family and I think that will last us awhile yet.

Egg Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
Excellent tasting egg salad - and I'm not necessarily a lover of egg salad. I really enjoyed the dried onion flakes, mustard and dill in this recipe. My husband has been gobbling it up too. Thanks!!

Skillet Strawberry Pancake

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
This is not your typical flour pancake, if you see that amount of egg to flour you'll realize it comes out more like a quiche than a typical pancake. It is tasty, but the egg flavor is very evident...not something *I* enjoy, but it may not bother others. A plus is that it is very easy to cook and I could see this as a dessert when sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Turkey and Sour Cream Enchiladas

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
This is as tasty as any other enchiladas recipe I've tried. Enchilada's aren't a food with a ton of flavor in my opinion...they're good, not great...and that's how I feel about this recipe.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I followed the directions exactly and was plesantly surprised at the results. Thanksgiving desssert was a hit thanks to this pie. The custard/pudding middle is DELICIOUS. I made stabilized whipped cream to top it - PERFECT. Thanks for the great directions - I've never made a cream pie (or homemade pudding) and everything went perfectly!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
I'm used to Old El Paso taco seasoning mix, so I was dubious when I first tried it - but hands down it is the BEST taco mix I've ever had...I REALLY enjoy the oregano in the mix, you think italian foods when you think of oregano but it just fits so well in this recipe! I also can enjoy tacos without MSG paranoia, and the added filler! Thank you SO MUCH for this FANTASTIC, TASTY mix! Not only does it taste great but its saving me money for my taco habit!~ :)

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
The only change I made to this recipe was to throw in some dried minced onion instead of fresh - I was feeling lazy and it still came out WONDERFUL. I highly recommend this tasty dish, you won't believe you're eatting vegetables!

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
The first time I made the recipe I had to use the lemon flavored instant tea because the store I was at didn't carry anything else. That batch came out sweet and didn't look good because it separated from the water and wouldn't stay mixed. Today I made another batch with the correct instant tea and found it to come out perfect! Although I must say I did use 1.5 cups of sugar instead of 2.5, I had a feeling it would be too sweet for me, and I have to say I think I was right. My husband liked it so much he stole my cup!! And our apartment has a nice vanilla smell :) Bonus!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
Phenominal!!! My husband made this recipe exactly as stated (minus paprika since we were out) and it was INCREDIBLE. I chose this recipe more for him, than me... but this salad was so good it tasted like dessert more than a side dish! The strawberries aren't quite in season where we live and were a bit bitter...until they married the dressing... it was happily ever after for everyone involved after that! I'm not one for "fancy cooking" or "gourmet" recipes... but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this salad! Thanks!!

Caribbean Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
My husband and I thought this turned out...eh..."okay". We were really hoping of something with a coconut taste, but didn't taste it at all. Instead the dish was overwhelmed with the onion and peppers. I would suggest too that you add some cornstarch to thicken the "sauce", if that is something you like. It was more like a soup than anything else. And it was alot less Coconut Chicken and alot more Pepper Chicken. It was more time intensive that I usually do and because I didn't enjoy it all that much I won't be making it again.
