Beef Egg Rolls

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
I thought these came out all right. That may have been my fault though. I baked these instead of fried to cut the fat. The texture of the wrapper came out on the tougher side which killed the overall quality of the egg rolls. I also omitted the sherry as I didn't see the need (and because I didn't have any). I served these as a late night snack for a few of my friends. One of them made a slightly sweet soy dipping sauce and I made a creamy wasabi dipping sauce.

Tourtiere (Meat Pie)

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
This came out pretty good. I agree with the other reviewers with the fact that there isn't enough liquid. I took that into account and added 1 packet onion mushroom soup mix as well as water mixed with a little cornstarch before adding to the pie crust. It still was a bit on the drier side. I actually enjoyed the nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. The flavors were subtle and not overpowering. Perfect.

Maple Dill Carrots

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
I used fresh dill from my herb garden out back. These came out great. I didn't let all of the water evaporate. I was worried the carrots would get overcooked. Will most likely make again. Yum!

Mint Tea Punch

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
This came out pretty good. My pitcher wasn't big enough for 9 cups of liquid so i was about a cup and half short on the water. That might make a big difference. My only complaint is that it was too sweet for my liking and I only added 3/4c sugar... that may be due to lack of water though. But over all... not bad.

Albondigas

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I liked this soup. The only thing I would change is add fresh onions and garlic to the meatballs. Maybe some herbs for additional flavor. They were bland to me but the rest was good. I used up all the veggies in my fridge that were on their last legs (spinach, cabbage, tomato, and zucchini).

The Best Meatloaf I've Ever Made

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
These were great. I didnt follow the original recipe though...I didnt have butter crackers so I smashed up some homemade garlic croutons. I also didnt use tomato sauce. I mixed bbq with liquid smoke, honey, Worcestershire sauce and ketchup and formed them into meatballs. Came out great.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
This was so good! I made a 4 layer cake for my moms birthday. It held together well and the icing was amazing. I didn't put pecans in the batter....only around the outside of the cake. I also dyed the frosting lavender. Great recipe!

Churros

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
These came out great! Much easier than I thought it would be. The dough was pretty firm so instead of making a mess with a pipping bag or plastic bag I just rolled them into balls. Tasted just like a churro!

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
I think these came out all right. I follow other viewers suggestion and doubled the dough and filling. I think doubling the dough was just too much. It came out good but theres so but dough on the bottom it takes away the flavor of the lemon. I like lemon desserts tart and this didnt cut it. Maybe I will make these again with normal dough recipe but double the filling.

Country-Style Grilled Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
These turned out great. Country ribs can be a bit fatty and my bf is VERY picking about fat on meat so I trimmed them up a bit before hand. Makes them easier for eating. I will make these again. Very tasty. MMMMM!

So, I didnt use salsa. I put hot sauce on the CORN tortilla (before and after melting the cheese) as well as topping them with fresh avocado.

Seafood Piccata

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
This was pretty good. I just used flounder instead of scallops, shrimp, and crab. I added summer squash, sundried tomatoes and spinach (for color) as well as garlic. Then I tossed piccata sauce and flounder into pasta. Yum!
