Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2015
This tastes so amazing!! I use butter (not shortening). It can be a little to soft for piping, but I've done it before!

REALLY Real Strawberry Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2015
This is a great recipe! Definitely tasted the strawberry! I got exactly a 20 cupcakes using a scope (sorry don't remember the size). I used the oven to dry my strawberries as described in the notes. Instead of using the food processor grind them up, I just put them in a plastic bag and used the flat side of a meat tenderizer to pound them into dust. I added a bit of raspberry flavoring (1 tsp) just to make sure they were very flavorful and also added pink food coloring. I topped with a butter cream (also slightly flavored with the raspberry). YUM! I'm a fairly experienced baker, but this recipe's detailed instructions made it perfect for the beginner!

Jimmy Dean Sausage Cheese Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
Yummy! I made ahead/froze and threw in the oven just the number I wanted for a party. Rave reviews! I used 16 oz regular sausage and 16 oz hot to spice it up a bit. I had a bit of a hard time getting it all mixed together so I don't know how I'd get more baking mix in for the "firmer" balls.

Cinnamon-Sugar Popcorn

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
I served this at a party and it was referred to "crack" :) I wish that the measurements for popped corn were also provided - my popcorn had a ton of duds, so I just made the amount that I wanted (and did I measure - no of course not!!) I doubled the "sauce" and I don't know that that the sugar / butter every really cooked properly (I live in a humid climate and often have troubles with sugar). I just went with it and didn't concern myself too much with making sure it truly coated every kernel, rather just made sure the "clumps" were evenly distributed. I mixed the sauce on the popcorn in small batches and that seemed to work well. Definitely a keeper!

Cinco de Chili Chocolate Cupcakes with Chili Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2014
I used a non-box Chocolate cake recipe and couldn't find ancho chile powder so just used regular chile powder and entered into a "chili" cook off...didn't win but got some good reviews :)

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2014
Well my 13 almost 14 year old sister said it was better than a similar dish that my mom makes that is one of our family favorites, so I have to give it 5 starts. No, this isn't healthy but it's nice for something special (I made for Easter brunch). I did make some minor changes... - I mixed in the parmesan cheese (because I didn't read the directions close enough. In its place I put a bit of cheddar cheese on top. - Instead of ham, I used 1 lb of ground pork (that I crumbled / fried first). Really you can use a variety of meat here. I think a spicy sausage would be excellent. - Baked for the first 40 min covered w/ foil so the top wouldn't get to brown.

Extra Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
Based on some reviews of it being bland, I added some paprika and sriracha to kick it up a little. My guests ate a lot so I guess it was a hit! I forgot to save the liquid from the beans so just used olive oil to get the consistency right, but wish I wouldn't have done that.

Veronica's Hot Spinach, Artichoke and Chile Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
This was pretty good. I added garlic, because I love it. Made in slow cooker - cooked on low ~3.5 hrs then on warm for the party. People wanted to take leftovers home so I guess that's a good sign!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
Delish! I wasn't able to get my as smooth as some of the pictures show, so I guess I'll have to try again :) As the description states, not too sweet. Paired with choc cupcakes. This was JUST enough for ~30 cupcakes.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
Made ~30 cupcakes by baking ~ 15 min and filling the cupcake cups ~2/3 full (but wish I would have filled them just over half, some came over the top of the cups a bit more than I would have liked). I also used buttermilk vs. regular milk because I had some I wanted to use up! Iced w/ the fluffy peanut butter icing from this site. Good reviews from guests. Tops of them looked very shiny and unappealing to me w/o any icing, but it didn't affect the taste at all!

Sparkling Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
Simple, very light and refreshing. I used sparkling grape juice vs. apple because that's what I could find! I thought it was really good and would make it again, however it didn't win out vs. the alocholic drinks :)

Cinnamon Cookies II

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2013
Next time I'll probably double the cinnamon for this to TRULY be a CINNAMON cookie. When I first tasted them, I didn't get the cinnamon taste until the end, and I really wanted BAM - CINNAMON cause I love cinnamon. These are a flat cookie as the pictures show, but that was okay for me - made them different than most cookies that I make and they still were chewy.

Spicy Fish Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
I think my dislike was more that I don't think I'd like ANY spicy fish soup rather than an actual issue with the recipe. Had the perfect amount of spice for me which was one plus :) Seemed to watery to me as is so I added quinoa and corn - and still to watery. Used sour cream instead of yogurt because that's what I had and I didn't like how it looked after adding that. Don't like shrimp so just used cod. Made in crock pot - BIG MISTAKE. My house smelled like fish for a literally a week - the smell also really turned me off to this. Will probably throw away leftovers.
