Wiener Schnitzel

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
I used pork chops pounded thin. This was excellent. We squeezed lemon juice on the finished schnitzel (right before eating). Will make again and again!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
This was awesome! I used a head of fresh broccoli, substituted some shredded 4 cheese blend instead of all velveeta. I added a shredded carrot and 3 cloves of sliced garlic to the broccoli and broth. I had some stale french bread left over that I broiled with butter, garlic salt, parmesan cheese and parsely for croutons. A+

Garlic Stuffed Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
Really good garlic flavor. We loved that part. I'll probably use my usual herb rub next time with garlic stuffed in it. The gravy was too salty. I should have listened to others and used less onion soup mix. We ate it though.

French Onion Soup V

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
This soup tasted good, but it wasn't like what I order at a restaurant. It was cloudy because of the flour and I am used to a clear beef broth. Something was off and I don't know what it was. I will keep searching for a French Onion Soup that is closer in taste to what I have had in a restaurant.

Bourbon Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
I added more brown sugar and less bourbon (I used Jack Daniels). I used fresh onion and cooked the chicken on the stove with olive oil. I removed the cooked chicken and kept it warm in the oven. I added the marinade to the pan in which I cooked the chicken. I thickened it with cornstarch water. Served over rice with green beans on the side. It was a hit, but only because I read all the other reviews and modified the original recipe accordingly.

Sausage Gravy I

Very good. I added some sage and garlic powder for an extra kick. I halved the recipe and it made plenty! I didn't have any bacon grease, so I used butter instead.

Premium Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
This crust was pretty good, but I didn't love it. I used the speed method and it was pretty easy. Needed more salt/spices in the crust. I didn't like how the crust didn't brown.

Hungarian Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
I didn't have Sherry, so I used cooking wine. I used les ketchup like others suggested. The taste was great, but the presentation was pretty bad. All the breading came off the chops. It still tasted great. If I make this again I won't bread the chops!

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle

Outstanding. Everyone loved it. I didn't use blanched peanuts. Just regular and it was still great.

Oatmeal Lace Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
Very good. Just like a recipe I ate years ago. (Make a sandwich out of two cookies with icing). I tried using dry parchment paper for the first batch and they stuck. After that I used the bare cookie sheet and a thin spatula to get them off the sheet. Timing is important when getting them off the sheet. After a couple trys you get the hang of it.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Fantastic potatoes. I reduced the butter by 1/2 and these were just great. Everyone loved them. I did put them in the crock pot, but they didn't get watery. I didn't add much of the cooking water at all though. Maybe that is what gave them the perfect consistency.

Sour Cream Apple Pie Deluxe

I took this to Thanksgiving dinner. It was good, but people didn't rave about it or ask for the recipe. It is a nice change. I followed other reviewers and used 1/2 cup sugar.

Very good recipe. I didn't do the wave. I just mixed everything together to get a chocolate loaf.

Mongolian Beef I

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
This recipe is fantastic! I followed suggestions from others and marinated the beef for a couple hours. I also added brown sugar, ginger, and chili powder to the marinade. I doubled the sauce recipe, but not the hot pepper flakes. This was just so yummy! We loved it. This recipe is a keeper.

I use more liquid (60oz I believe). I also add spices to the meatballs. Everyone raves about this soup! It is just so good!

Salsa De Tomatillo

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
I liked this recipe, but it good mixed reviews at the party I took it to. The less "Foody" people wouldn't try it. Those who did thought it tasted like pickles. However, my friend who is a Chef and his food-oriented vegetarian wife loved it. I guess it depends on the crowd.

Perogie Casserole

Everyone at the party loved it. Makes more than seven servings (in my opinion). I boiled the potatoes and skipped the bacon (vegetarian friends you know). Very good. Next time I might skip the cottage cheese altogether.
