Shortbread Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
a very nice shortbread recipe. i did it the easy way and mixed the dry ingredients in the food processor and then processed it with the cold butter (chopped into slices) until thoroughly mixed and crumbly. then, in a bowl, added this mixture with the wet ingredients. i always roll the dough between two sheets of wax paper to desired thickness (i did 1/4 inch) and then loosen the paper on both sides before cutting out the cookies. This way, they transfer really easily to the cookie sheets. Thanks, Hanner!

Fancy Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
this cookie is delicious!!! i followed the recipe exactly and they turned out just a bit flat, so i put the (absolutely scrumptious) frosting between two cookies as a filling and then dipped one end into melted chocolate and peanut sugar (chopped peanuts and a little white sugar)

Turkey Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Wow! Made this tonight with the leftover christmas turkey and boy, was it a hit. I followed directions precisely, used pillsbury pie crust and let the filling (which smelled absolutely heavenly) cool for ten minutes before pouring it into the pie shell. i brushed the top crust with a beaten egg before baking and it turned out to be beautiful and delicious. This recipe is a keeper!!

Hedgehog Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
i attended a christmas tea at a very popular local tea house yesterday and was served a delicious cookie.. i asked the owner about it and he said "We just happened on this recipe and we're keeping it secret. It's called a hedgehog and all I can tell you is that it has hazelnuts in it." So i came home and checked good ole all Allrecipes and sure enough..this is definitely the recipe. I tried it right away and it's delicious: just like the one at the tea. i substituted hazelnuts for the walnuts but otherwise followed the recipe exactly and they were perfect. Thank you, Taste of Home and Sandra, for a great recipe! UPDATE: i've made these cookies several time since, and now i always use half walnuts and half hazelnuts. We like them even better that way.

Wow!! These are the best white chocolate macadamia nut cookies i have ever made.. they're really good with the cranberries but i think they'd be awesome without them too.. in fact, i am tossing out all my other white choc mac cookie recipes and from now on, this will be my ONE recipe.. family says its one of the best cookies i've ever made.. and i've made a LOT of cookies.. i followed the recipe precisely and i flattened my cookies a bit before baking.. they turned out to be beautiful as well as delicious.. thanks for a great recipe!

Texas Sheet Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
made this the other night for a school function.. once i had already melted the butter, i realized i only had 3/4 cup of sugar.. so i replaced the rest of the sugar with light brown sugar.. it worked, cause they came out great!! i made the icing just as the recipe calls for, but in half the frosting i mixed in 1/2 cup of walnuts and frosted half of the brownie/cake with plain frosting and half with nut frosting.. great recipe! wish i had some now..

Spritz Cookies V

Great recipe! I followed the directions precisely with great success. The cornstarch gives it that "melt in your mouth" texture...literally, it melts in your mouth. And the vanilla and almond flavors are yummy together. A really good cookie!

Really good frosting. Not sure how much milk i used, cause i just add a few drops at a time until i get it to the consistency i like. Otherwise, i followed directions precisely.

Apple Crisp with Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
The negative reviews almost scared me away from this healthy recipe, but thank goodness I didn't listen to the naysayers. I've tried all of this cooks's other recipes, and they are fabulous, so of course i had to try it, and i am soooo happy i did. It was delicious and the whole family ate it up. I made it precisely according to directions and didn't change a thing...except for topping it with whipped cream, of course. There is such a thing as TOO healthy, i believe. Thanks, What a Dish!

Farm Macaroons

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Terrific recipe! The hint of almond flavoring makes it perfect. The cookies turn out moist and tender. I used a fork to spoon the dough onto foiled lined cookie sheets (shiny side down or the cookies will reflect too much heat and brown too quickly.) Then i can form it into more of a circle with the fork and make a little dent in the top for the candied cherry. Once the cookies cool completely, they peel right off the foil. Thanks for a great recipe!

Neapolitan Cookies II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Great recipe! Because I'd been baking sooo many cookies, I ended up preparing the dough and then putting it in the fridge and forgetting all about it for a couple weeks. Baked it anyway, and it turned out great! Looks much more difficult than it is...actually takes less time than most cookie recipes.

Spritz Cookies III

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This was a great recipe. I make spritz cookies every year, but i always like to try different recipes. The negative comments almost stopped me from using this one, but i am soooo glad i used it anyway, otherwise i would have missed a wonderful recipe. It worked perfectly in my trusty pampered chef cookie press and made the process much easier than usual. And I am all about ease! Thanks, Carol!

Gilded Chocolate Shortbread

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
Shortbread by its very nature is bland. Minimal ingredients..a very simple recipe. This is an EXCELLENT shortbread recipe. It was delicious and very easy to work with. I opted not to use the gold dust; instead, i rolled the cookies into small logs and dipped one end into chocolate and colored sprinkles. They were gorgeous on my christmas cookie trays and they were reallllly yummy, too!
