Peanut Butter Cookies IX

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
I am not a big baker and have tried many recipes with peanut butter and chocolate chip. I didn't realize this was going to have oatmeal til I looked at the recipe. I cut the recipe in half and I added a little more chocolate chips and these were delicious! I made them for my husband who comes home Wednesday but i think I'll have to make another small batch before he comes home. I don't think these will last that long!

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2013
I usually make Italian bread or French bread and use that as a crust but thought I'd try this pizza dough recipe. I know how to make breads and use yeast but this is soggy and doesn't cook. I used a pizza stone and even cooked it at 400F. I have made many homemade pizzas and never ever had this problem. The crust was cooked in 8 mins! The rest of it is doughy and not fully cooked. I will have to cut the crust off over cover it with foil and cook it on the rack but at this point it's beyond repair tbh. I will stick to my French bread and Italian bread recipes and use those as pizza crusts. They taste much better and cook without being soggy!

Afghan Beef Raviolis (Mantwo)

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
I made these last night and they were delicious! I loved them. My roommate was on his way out the door and didn't want to leave because he wanted to try them. He stayed and tried them and even took some to his friends house to share! They were really easy but took some time. I love the yogurt at the bottom, it really helps with the spicy parts (red pepper). This was very enjoyable! I had to use green split peas because I could not find yellow ones and I substituted the fresh mint for mint extract. It came out great!

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
I made this over the holidays while in Italy. I made my own manicotti shells as well. I loved the two sauces but I varied the sauces a little by adding some other seasonings to them. I also let the red sauce cook all day. I prefer to make my own red sauce, as a Sicilian/Italian I just can't bring myself to use store bought red sauce :) I also cut up some spicy Italian sausage and added it to the cheese mixture for one. I made two types, one with sausage and one without. The one with sausage was gone first!

Impossible French Apple Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2006
This came out pretty good but I did have a couple problems. This recipe doesn't say which amount of butter goes where and if you don't bake alot it's confusing. I think the submitter should have stated which amount of butter goes where..Also the strussel topping did NOT crumble and I have made crumble topping before. I tried to adjust it but it didn't work. Instead my boyfriend and I just spread it on top which was also pretty tasty. Other than these two problems it was pretty good.

Mama D's Italian Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2006
Well I didn't find this recipe all that great. I have been making home made bread since I was little with my mother. If you are a first time bread maker this is not the recipe for you. I thought it would have been more helpful had it given time frames for rising and cooking. The dough was really gooey the first time around and it didn't rise as much as it should have. I winded up putting it outside in the hot Florida heat, which worked much better than the oven. I also use olive oil while kneading so it's not so sticky. I added some italian herbs to this for more flavor. It came out ok, just not the way you would think.

Shrimp Scampi V

Reviewed: May 17, 2006
This was pretty easy and came out good, but I did change a lot of how this was cooked. I changed it because the original mixture had too much wine and not enough of the other flavors in scampi. Also this recipe didn't state whether you needed to use cooked or uncooked shrimp which makes a difference in the time. I used uncooked shrimp. After I cooked the butter and garlic with the shrimp(uncooked shrimp) I transferred the mixture to a baking dish and added the wine and some parmesean cheese and baked covered for 10 mins at 350. I then uncovered it and baked it an additional 3-5 mins and added more parmesean cheese, garlic powder and some bread crumbs (about 1/4 cup)and parsley. After that I added the shrimp mixture to the pasta. I also mixed the pasta with a little olive oil, garlic powder and some wine. This scampi went great with the cheddar bay biscuits. I will be making this again.

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: May 10, 2006
Good recipe but I had to make a few adjustments. After 20 mins some of the rice wasn't cooked all the way so I added some chicken broth and juice from the canned tomatoes. I added some more cumin and jalapenos. Next time I ill use half of the cilantro. To me it was overpowering the other spices. This recipe went really well with the chicken ranchero I made as well! I will make this again.. Very good!

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
I recently ate at a popular restaurant and had cajun chicken pasta. I then became obsessed with finding a recipe. I came across this in the allrecipes cookbook and was delighted! It came out great accept for the sauce. I thought it would be thicker. I did add more cajun seasoning and I refrigerated the sauce so it would thicken. I only refrigerated it for 30 mins. I loved this dish and I will definately be makingit again!!

Well I really enjoyed this and so did my boyfriend..I was looking for something to go with the Veal Chops I was grilling and this came out perfect! Since my boyfriend doesn't like mushrooms I subsituted the cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken and herbs.. I used brown rice instead of white rice and I also added fried onion pieces on top for the last 10 mins. It came out great and I will definately be making this again..
