Down-Home Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2005
My husband loves sausage gravy! I never make it because of the saturated fat content. Of so many receipes listed I chose this one as no butter or heavy milk. WOW! How delicious! A big hit here. I did add 1/2 tsp. of fresh ground pepper & used a low-fat sausage. I will pass this one on & use again. Thankyou.

Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
Oh my goodness! Tim Hortons' charges $3.99 for this same drink! I make with caramel instead of chocolate. The best, refreshing drink when you want something icy. I like to add a bit of Kahlua, too!

Snickerdoodles II

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2008
These are very yummy! My six yr. old told me better than his favorite, homemade chocolate chip cookies. Big praise. I did use half regular sugar & half Splenda. I also used half butter & half shortening. I added 1/2 tsp. extra cinnamon to the dry ingredients, too. To hasten the cooking process I baked in convection oven at 350 so I could do two trays at once. They took about 9 mins. This is a keeper recipe.

Cream Cheese Kolacky

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
I've made these for over 20yrs & couldn't find my recipe this year. While it's pretty much committed to memory I needed exact measurements. This one is close w/the exception of: salt, grated lemon peel & real vanilla. Not Grandma's added ingredients but mine & they make all the difference. Not that there is much of a difference but I always use unbleached flour. I quadrupled this, & baked them in a convection oven at 325 for 15 mins on aire-bake sheet pans. They melt in your mouth! Be sure to purchase homemade, real preserves for the hard work. I use cherry, apricot & seedless blackberry. Beautiful, w/sprinkled powdered sugar on my crystal platter. Merry Christmas & thanks.

Kugel

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2007
First time I've ever made Kugel. I saw it in an old cookbook, one that I couldn't find again, so searched it out on allrecipes. Ann's sounded good. I made as she directs, except I did add one cup of golden raisins & addes cinnamom to the topping, which I doubled, as suggested from other reviews. Result: this was delicious, rich & loved by all. I will use again & again for special occasions. Thanks :)

Marinated Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Great recipe for fresh mushrooms. A little too much garlic for me. I will reduce the garlic next time. I added 1 Tbs. sugar & some fresh, flat-leaf parsley. Very fresh, tasty, no-cook, will use many times.

Sesame Steamed Vegetables

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
I searched these ingredients & found this recipe. It was simple, very tasty & satisfying. I wanted for a main course so I doubled, added one bag of cooked, brown rice & sliced green onion (which I love). I also steamed the vegies vs. boiling to retain more of the nutrients. Even the kids liked it! Many vegies could be substituted here so a definate keeper.

Avocado Egg Salad

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
This was a great way to reduce mayo in egg salad & give it a heightened taste. I used my own recipe but did reduce the light mayo, then added the mashed avacado which I combined with some fresh squeezed lemon juice. Used 12 eggs, 1/2 c mayo, one avacado, 2 Tbls Dijon, 3 Tbsl pickle relish & all my favorite spices plus S&P. Yes, you must add paprika & dill to make it perfect in my opinion! A dash of chipotle red pepper kicks it nicely. Easy & delicious. Served on bed of romaine & croissants to 10 people for luncheon. All loved. Thanks for the avacado idea!

Ginger Salmon

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
We didnt' find this to have the flavor I thought it would. I made exactly & even marinated it for a few hours; let sit out of fridge for 30 mins & then baked as directed. Maybe because I used frozen salmon fillets? I did thaw first. I may try again with fresh salmon.

Coffee Shop Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
The overall taste is good but the texture is a bit loose. I did cut the cinnamon to 1/2 tsp. as others suggested & used walnuts as I didn't have pecans. I will make again but perhaps use a bit less chocolate chips or less milk for more density.
