Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2006
Very rich, very tasty with chocolate cream cheese frosting. I didn't have any problems with it, though based on other reviews I was expecting it to be dry. And it was quite moist. The last quarter of it started drying out after nearly a week, but that's understandable. Would definitely make again when I'm crazy craving some chocolate.

Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2006
I made this to go on a chocolate cake-- Dark Chocolate Cake I, I think, but I'm not sure-- and it was pretty good. I was looking for a more cream cheesier taste, as this was quite fudgey, but it wasn't a bad taste; just not exactly what I was looking for. Very rich and smooth. It just barely covered 3 layers, but the frosting and cake were soooo moist and chocolatey together there was no need for excesses of frosting (though I am fond of them). I would definitely make this again to frost a dark chocolate cake for a quasi death-by-chocolate experience. :)

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
I lurved this stew! I think next time I'll use roast beef instead of stew meat, just because I prefer the texture of roast, but it was a wonderfully savory and tender stew.

Sweet Potato Pie II

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
I love sweet potato pie, and this one was great. I'm used to ones with fewer spices, as this one tasted more like pumpkin pie with all the spices in it than sweet potato pie. But it was yummy nonetheless.

Candied Carrots

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
Really enjoyed this. I don't like thick syrup on my carrots, so this was great for me, but maybe too runny for others. I added some nutmeg and cinnamon and replaced a little of the brown sugar with dark brown sugar, and it was wonderfully aromatic and sweet. Will definitely make again!

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2005
So, so good! Will definitely make again! I was out of cheddar cheese and used a quesadilla blend shredded cheese instead, and it turned out great!

Chocolate Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2005
I love this pound cake! It's dense, moist, chocolatey... and the instant coffee was a nice enhancer. Maybe next time I'll put in even more for a java cake. ;) Definitely making again.

Spinach Lasagna II

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2005
This is the first lasagna I ever made, and it turned out awesome! It came out of the oven a bit saggy in the middle, but no one cared at all. My fiance ate about a third of it by himself! I substituted a jar of spaghetti sauce w/ mushrooms since I wanted a few mushrooms and was too lazy to make my own sauce; I also added half a cup of romano and extra parmesan, since I crave cheesiness; and I added some basil, oregano, and parsley since it seemed appropriate. Just a great lasagna, and quick to make on top of that. Definitely making again when I need a lot of food and don't have a lot of time.

Carol's Butter Pecan Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2005
My friend loves butter pecan or praline everything, so I decided to make this for her. It turned out great, especially the batter! Straight out of the oven it smelled like IHOP pecan pancakes, and it had a texture like fluffy banana nut bread. I thought the icing was a nice complement to the cake, and altogether it's so sweet and rich I can only eat a piece or two a day, instead of marathon cake binges-- which is a good thing. :) Definitely will be making this again.
