Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
Refrigerate your dough (at least a few hours) for best results. Also, rolling a log and slicing fat chunks is faster than scooping the chilled dough. Also saves you from having to flatten larger dough balls. Overall, this recipe is easy to make, the taste is very good and has a very nice appearance out of the oven. Really liked the finished chewy texture when I tasted it the following day. Did not deviate from recipe. Definitely keeping this recipe and tweaking to my tastes.

This is a great recipe I've used many many times now. I use salted butter instead of shortening and 1/2 the salt (1/2 tsp). So yummy.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Don't panic when your batter gets all lumpy after the buttermilk goes in like I did! Persevere, and after the flour is added, the batter will (should!) become smooth. Tastes great and would recommend using Scharffenberger non-processed cocoa. Has a much better taste/smell than regular cocoa, in my opinion. Simple recipe, good results.

Fifteen Minute Chicken Chili

Easy. Tasty. Fast. Gets a full rating from me! I have tried this with: ground turkey, extra lean beef, and chicken. All work well. I like extra spice so I dump in some hot sauce and chili peppers.

Cream of Cauliflower Soup II

Easy and straightforward recipe! I substituted vegetable broth to make a vegetarian version. Good taste, can be a little thick, but a little extra water or milk will help thin it to taste. If you want to go the extra mile, strain it to make it very smooth.

Made with suggested changes, (brown sugar, 1/2 the soda, butter!), and they turned out great! I've used this for years now.

Really nice to make ahead of time for those times when you crave. I substituted some dried cranberries instead of raisins.

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2006
After reading the comments, I too doubled the spice amounts (ginger, cloves, cinnamon), as well as added some fresh ginger, (teaspoon). I also melted 3/4c of butter instead of using veg. oil and found that this worked well for me, though I didn't get the puffy cracking shown in the photo. Mine came out relatively flat, removed from oven at 8 mins. for a crispy edge and chewy centre. This was a tasty and simple to make cookie!
