Relaxing in the hammock!
Big hearts!!
About this Cook
My husband is an incredibly good cook so I got into cooking to keep up with him! Plus, I just LOVE food, thinking about it, shopping for it, prepping it and cooking it! And, of course, we both LOVE to eat and we enjoy taking care of the people we love. There's nothing better than having people here to cook for them! We're a house of "food is love".
My favorite things to cook
I like to make one pot things- soups, chilis, sauces. I have a few recipes that I always come back to, but I try to cook a new recipe every time I make dinner. We also love to experiment with bbq ribs on the grill.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a Christmas brunch tradition- started by my husband's parents- Eggs Benedict, hash browns and mimosas. What a great, relaxing way to spend Christmas day....ahhhh
My cooking triumphs
Even though I'm not a baker, I enjoy decorating cakes. I did an Elmo cake last year for our child's birthday and it came out perfectly! I was so proud!
My cooking tragedies
I recently made two new recipes- one pot meals- that had onions for one of the base ingredients. The first recipe wasn't that great, but I just figured it was the recipe. The second recipe was awful too. The onions were the only thing they had in common. I think I used old onions. Anyway, all the prep and cooking and excitment of looking forward to a new recipe, literally down the drain!

Ham and Bean Soup
Good, very easy and quick to get on the table! The chili powder in here just helps to make the ham seem smokey-er! Nice touch

Creme Fraiche Chicken
This was AWESOME! 4 star rating right now because I want to experiment with the type of wine to use....used sav. blanc tonight and I feel it could really stand a more assertive wine as the base. that being said, I did add more wine to the recipe- probably doubled it- and a little dried thyme- along with s&p with chx, onions and after adding creme fraiche- which I made from scratch based on another review for this recipe. My husband RAVED about how good it was and he was SO right! Thanks for this one!!

Hearty Halibut Chowder
Very tasty and light! I added some scallops, used tilapia and evaporated skim milk light the other reviewers suggested.
