About this Cook
I am living in two worlds. I need to cook for Asian and Mexican food lovers. I try to please. I am in a quandry! I have a German background. I love to cook ALL ethnic recipes. We're all experimenting. The guys are my room mates and I am the cook!
My favorite things to cook
German, Asian and Mexican dishes. Barbeque and baking are my favorites. Stews and comfort foods are my favorites in the winter. I love to cook soup and bake breads in the winter, and barbeque pork and chicken dishes in the summer. My favorites are German dishes, but Asian and Mexican need to be on my list as well!
My favorite family cooking traditions
A perfect BBQ with corn, watermelon and ambrosia at summertime. A turkey with all the trimmings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sharing secret recipes and disovering more! Sharing heritage and forgetting predjudices! Ethnicity ends at the stove or BBQ! We gathered and we ate, we didn't care what country we came from! Those were my favorite traditions! I want to bring them back!
My cooking triumphs
I finally made a perfect meatloaf. I used oatmeal and onion soup mix. The meatloaf didn't fall apart! I made a perfect turkey for Thanksgiving that I didn't overstuff!
My cooking tragedies
I overstuffed my first Thanksgiving turkey and it exploded!

Danish Kringle
Easy to make to dough! Don't cut into the rolled out dough too far! Just cut a third of the way on each side. I used slivered almonds in the filling instead of walnuts to make a "Bear Claw" pastry. It turned out fine! Try it. You'll be happy that you did! Just save some almonds to sprinkle on top!

Best Egg Rolls
Loved this recipe! It's so easy. I just think of the egg roll skin as an envelope with one point facing me. I filled the middle,(left to right) folded in the corners, rolled and sealed the point(with flour paste) then deep fried for 12-20 seconds a side! The filling is already cooked! (I added an extra clove of minced garlic to the filling, but that's just for my taste) You can't go wrong with this recipe! When the egg roll skin is a golden brown all around, it's done! I loved them and would do them again, anytime! You can find egg roll skins in the ethnic/asian isle of any supermarket, as well as 5 spice powder, ginger, etc! Enjoy!
