Matzo Brei

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2005
I make this recipe all the time....but I usually "fry" it in Pam, and I cover the "pancake" with sugar before I eat it. It is also good with jelly.

Lavosh

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2005
This was ok. I expected something softer. Part of the "bread" were a bit too hard to eat.

Chicken Tortilla Soup II

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2005
This recipe was ok. I added 1 can of unsalted corn to the soup....it the soup came out great! The only problem was when I tried to freeze and reheat the soup a few days later...the consistency was not the same...and it was not exactly "soup" at that point.... This recipe made so much soup, and with freezing and reheating not being an option, I will make this again but only for a large party (no leftovers).

Double Chocolate Brownie Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2005
This was ok. It was easy to make, but did not come out as good as I expected. The inside of the cake was good, but the outside was very hard and crunchy. Do not wait for the inserted knife or toothpick to come out clean. With all these chocolate chips....it never will!

Challah II

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2005
This recipe is excellent! The challah comes out a lot sweeter than normal shabbat challah, but it is a nice change. I added chocolate chips to a recent batch...it was practically dessert!

Chicken Breasts with Herb Basting Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2005
The chicken came out well. I left out the hot pepper sauce and the dish was still packed with flavor. And, I got to cook with some of the my less-used spices.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
These cookies were wonderful. I actually used 15 oz. of pumpkin instead of the 1 cup, which made very moist cookies.

Moroccan-Style Stuffed Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
This recipe was wonderful. I used a little more vegtables than the actual recipe calls for. This is also a very easy recipe to add extra spices to.

Apple and Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2005
The chicken was very moist, but it did not taste fruity at all, as expected.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2005
These Lemon Bars are ok. This is a good starting recipe for Lemon Bars, but it is missing a few things. I would suggest a teaspoon of salt in the crust and some additional lemon and perhaps lemon zest in the fruit top. On a positive note, the consistency was perfect, which is more than I can say for other lemon bar recipes I have tried.

Moroccan Chicken and Whole Grain Couscous

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
This came out really well. There was a bit too much liquid for the stated cooking time. I increased the simmering time at the end of the recipe by 20 minutes and the problem was solved. Using that much liquid made a nice stew-like "gravy" in the end, so I would not suggest reducing the amount.

Best Bread Machine Bread

This recipe is excellent! It was my first time using my new bread machine and the bread came out better than I expected! I even used all-purpose flour instead of bread flour...

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2005
This came our much better the second time I tried it. If you have a stove that tends to overheat, make sure you cook this on the low setting. In the end, this is a good carmel corn, but nothing amazing.

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
These came out well. Very easy to make. Needed a few more minutes of cooking time, and ended up with 28 cookies instead of 36 (I tried to make 36, but the dough was too thin to hold the filling).
