Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
I made these for Thanksgiving last year, but I did add extra butter and cream cheese, and they came out just fine. Actually, I think I made them the day/night before, and put them in my crockpot on low T-Day morning. They were hot when I was ready to serve.. I lost the recipes..came back here to find. Now that I think about it..I had some leftover cauliflower from a dinner the night before..I pureed that and added to the 'tatoes..noone noticed.

Peach Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
This is exactly what I was looking for - however I will omit the pears (just don't want them) and change the green pepper for red (personal taste). I plan to can it since I have an abundance of peaches to use..and I plan to eat most of this with tortilla chips! I noticed there are no customized versions of this! Great job Auntylene!

Venison Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
This looks really good..pretty much what I was looking for in a recipe. I found a few from a couple of wild game cookbooks, but I think this tops them! I will probably follow the other reviews and spice it a little more, but looks good! Thanks!

Figs and Toasted Almonds Brie

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
Thank you for the recipe! I can't wait to try this! I tried a Baked Brie w/Brown Sugar @ a friend's a few wks ago and really wanted to try it. Found Brie @ the local grocer for 5.99 for 8oz wheele-and Camembert for 1.59 for 8oz (close to exp date). Got a loaf of French Bread for $0.90 and already have figs. Looking forward to chillin' in front of the TV tomorrow night w/the honey and nibbling this with a glass (or 2) of wine!

Cabbage and Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2010
This was good! Made almost to recipe but was out of butter..used the bacon grease and some garlic oil. It could have used a little more flavor - although I did add garlic and S&P. Next time I will try the suggestion of chicken boullion in the noodle water! The recipe was precisely what I was looking for!

These were very good! I followed the recipe exactly (wish I would have read reviews first, I did not think to add Parm cheese-I love it!)and mine actually came out looking like the picture! They were nice and crispy/crunchy on outside, tender on the inside!

Apple Pie Spice Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
just a note of thanks for posting this. I've been using quite a bit of this spice for another recipe..and the price in the grocery store for the very little container seems pretty expensive! I can make this with spices I have on hand. (I was able to purchase ground cardamom pretty cheap and have other uses for it too!) Thanks again!

Salsa Guacamole

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
YUM!! Just the recipe I was looking for! I used lime juice since I bought a lime (personal preference), *always*prefer fresh garlic to powder, and sweet onion since no green on hand. I diced the avocado first, and tossed with the lime juice; mashed with a fork to keep some lumps, then combined everything. I love your idea of making fresh chips! I season mine with s&p, garlic and onion powder, and a little paprika

Texas Sheet Cake I

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
Been making this for years and ALWAYS a hit..cake is always very moist. The recipe I use (and lost) callsf for strong coffee instead of water. Try adding a little cinnamon to the frosting-adds a little something different. I add it to both the cake batter and frosting. I have also used the suggestion to poke some holes in the cake with the end of a wooden spoon before pouring the frosting.

Chicken Paprikash I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This looks great - exactly what I was looking for! I will probably use boneless, skinless breasts - as that is what I have on hand - and serve over homemade spaetzle. I do have the Hungarian Paprika though!

Texas Sheet Cake VI

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
Hmm..I'm confused! The recipe is exactly the one I was looking for - the only difference being I do not use the nuts, I make my coffee *strong*, I do add 1 tsp of cinnamon to frosting and sometimes to the cake, and I poke holes in the cake with the end of a wooden spoon before pouring the frosting.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
I thought this was very good, will continute to make it, and have shared the recipe with several friends. The first bread I made the other night with my niece-I supplied the majority of the ingred, but my sis did not have enough sugar for the topping. I had to refrigerate the batter until she came home. I tripled the sugar mixture, put about 2/3 in the middle and the rest on top. I tried it at 300 for 1 hr..this did not work. It overflowed in the pan, and took longer than 1 hr. I made this again in MY oven on Fri, except this time I think I had a little too much butter in the sugar topping and it was 'sticky'. I dropped by 1/2 spoonfuls on the batter for the middle, (didn't swirl it this time) then again on top. This came out real well. Next time I might make more, and just try to spread it over..(the BF really liked this part!) Also, per BF request, I made a confectioner's sugar glaze and spread that over the remaining half of the loaf (BR has eaten 1/2 already). I did have slice of both of them, and thought the flavor was VERY good! I toasted my slice this morning. Thank you for a very good recipe (the original)! I usually don't like when people feel the need to change up poster's recipes, but I think the additon of the sugar mixture in the middle defintely pumps this up!
