Frog Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2008
These turned out cute! They were fun to make and pretty easy too! The only change I made was I used the peel licorice to make a red mouth. Make sure you put a little more batter in the muffin cups than usual so you have a nice round surface to make your frog on! Very cute idea- big hit with everyone! I made them for "Leap Day" 2-29-2008. I look forward to making them again...in four years! :)

Valentine Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
Very yummy! In order to get the filling inside the meatballs, my meatballs turned out really big. It was easier to shape them into hearts than I thought it was going to be. Our Valentine's Day lunch company liked them too! The meatballs made great leftovers- we put one on a bun, added some ketchup and mustard and had a hamburger! Thanks for the recipe!

Cafeteria Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
Definitely a 5 star!!! Took this to a BBQ and it was a huge hit. I read through almost all the reviews before I made it and changed these thing per popular opinion by other reviewers: used 1/4 cup white sugar + 1/4 cup brown sugar no powdered sugar 1/4 tsp. cinnamon + 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg pinch of salt baked for 45 minutes. SO good!!! And a great way to use up lots of extra carrots! Note: 2 pounds of carrots is equal to approximately 12-16 medium carrots OR 7 cups of peeled and diced carrots

Grilled Chicken Breasts with Fresh Strawberry Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
We really liked the chicken- thought it was a super yummy marinade, but the strawberry salsa was just okay. We thought it had way too many flavors going on- fruit, chiles, onion, mint- too much. Will proabably make the marinade again because we liked it so muhc, but will leave off the salsa or just use plain ol' strawberries with a little bit of sugar.

Cream Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
I just made this cake today and it was really, really good! I read all 83 reviews before making it and decided to make the following changes because these alterations appeared in many of the reviews... I used 1 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla, 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. I beat the eggs for 10 minutes before adding the sugar and vanilla, a little at a time. Came out moist and not dense. Enjoyed by all. Thanks for the great recipe (and for all the people who took the time to write up a review)!

Gingerbread Frosting for Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
Great recipe! Was a great addition to our Gingerbread Men cookie recipe. Added a little more powdered sugar to make it a little thicker so it would stay on the cookies, but other than that, followed the recipe exactly. Turned out brown, but looked great on the gingerbread cookies with candies and sprinkles on top! Merry Christmas!

Potluck Pasta Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
This is a really good soup, and it makes a lot so it could feed a lot of people! I omitted the celery and used brown beans (no garbanzo on hand!) and it was really good. We all had seconds! Next time I will add a little more Italian seasoning and garlic. No need to cook the noodles, just put them in the boiling soup for the last ten minutes and they will be ready when it's time to eat!

My Kid's Favorite Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
This is the first time I have ever made a recipe off of this site that had no reviews. I am so happy I did! It was YUMMY! Thanks for a great recipe. Next time I will try to substitute applesauce for 1/2 of the oil and see how it turns out. All the kids loved it! :)

Spicy Zucchini Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 11, 2012
I thought these were great, but they didn't really fly with the kids. I made 1/2 with raisins and 1/2 with choc. chips and even the choc. chip ones didn't get rave reviews. But, I loved them! A little bit of a strange texture and didn't keep that well, past a couple days. I think I would make these again to serve fresh if I was hosting a tea/coffee at my house.

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
Holy Smokes! Like so many of the other reviewers on here, I was a bit skeptical but WOW-EEE these are good! My kids LOVE them! They like them best with Tony Chachere's Cajun seasoning lightly sprinkled on top. I had trouble with the first two batches sticking to the plate. I ended up coat the plate with olive oil and then sprinkling the tops with salt (or cajun seasoning), with no additional oil on top. Yummy! But they are quite time consuming! If you're hesitant about trying it...just try it once with one potato (I HIGHLY recommend slicing the potatoes with a mandolin- nice and thin and uniform in size). Have fun! Thanks for the great recipe!

Marinated Ranch Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
Like most of the previous reviews, I was amazed at how easy and GOOD this recipe was! Followed ingredients to a T... baked at 350 for 20-25 minutes then set the oven on Broil and broiled for 10 minutes, or until the top starts to get brown and bubbly. Highly recommend. Enjoyed with rice and veggie- simple, simple!

Crunchy Pumpkin Pie Granola

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
I made this recipe exactly as written! It is super tasty granola and it does smell great baking! My friends and I all decided that it tastes more like apple pie than pumpkin pie! It is great with and without raisins. I recommend adding the raisins/dried cranberries as you use it, rather than storing the granola with the fruit in it (I think that may be the cause of it turning soft quickly, as some reviewers complained). I will try it next time with pumpkin puree to see if I can make it more like pumpkin pie, but if you can settle for apple pie granola...this recipe is awesome!

Honey Milk Tea - Hong Kong Style

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
I really enjoyed this drink. I used sweetened condensed milk, but am anxious to try with regular milk, as suggested by other reviewers. I used black tea bags as opposed to orange pekoe tea bags, as that's all I had!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2012
These are the best pork chops I've ever made! I only cooked them for an hour total and they came out great. I would recommend flipping the chops half way through baking (before adding the soup mixture) and then taking the foil off. Highly recommend.

Baked French Fries II

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
These are great! I cut the potatoes with a mandolin on the french fry setting, which made it fast and easy, but I think they came out too thin. The taste is awesome! I did have trouble with them slightly sticking, so I think next time I'll place them on parchment paper. Great recipe!!

Mayan Couscous

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2011
So I made this recipe as written. My husband and I enjoyed it, but we both said it is both bland and spicy (how can that be?). It's spicy, but you're waiting for another flavor. My husband said steak. I said feta cheese. Either way, it is a good start recipe, but we think it needs an addition of some sort. And like other reviewers mentioned...the lemon makes the dish.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2013
This recipe did make very moist, flavorful chicken! I read a lot of the reviews and combined them to make these changes... I used 6 chicken breasts, a whole head of garlic, doubled the bread crumbs and "green canister" Parmesan cheese, and a dash of fresh black pepper. I put the oil/garlic mixture that had cooled off into a resealable bag, added the chicken breasts and squished the oil and garlic around each piece to coat (worked great!). Dipped each piece in the crumb mixture than cooked for 30 minutes at 425 degrees. Added fresh grated Parmesan on each piece of chicken at the table. Served with fresh bread and broccoli.
