Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
I premade these cookies in the shape of dog bones for my daughter's Scooby Doo birthday party (scooby snacks) and am going to let the kids decorate them at the party. However, I have to make more because we all keep snacking on them. Great flavor, even without the frosting.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
This was good, but was not spicy enough for me. This issue was fixed with lots of hot sauce. The kids actually liked it because there weren't beans in it. My husband did not care for it, must have been the allspice. All in all, a pretty good chili recipe.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Doubled this recipe (not sure of the exact amount of apples because I had a lot of small apples) - used gala & red delicious apples. I cooked it in the crock pot on high for about 4 hours, then mashed with a potato masher. It turned out delicious and a perfect way to use up apples left over from apple picking. My husband said it tasted like the apple pie filling from McDonalds. lol

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
I love spice, but even with using Frank's Buffalo wing sauce, it's way too spicy for my family. To combat this, I add some butter, but mainly chicken broth. This evens up the spice a bit and makes it bearable for my husband. I top the sandwiches with crumbled blue cheese and pickles. Yum!

Philly Steak Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
Really tasty! I made one sandwich with steak for me and another with chicken for my husband. After a recent trip to the fair, we tried to recreate the steak & chicken hoagie we ate there and this was pretty close. Not exact but delicious just the same.

Cheese Herb Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
Great herb flavor, I also added garlic powder. However, even adding 5 TBS of cheese, it didn't really have much of a cheesy flavor. My husband did not like it - he thought it had too much herb flavor. However, my 8 yr old loved it. lol

Pancakes I

Great homemade pancake recipe! Added fresh blueberries and made them while camping - everyone loved them. I didn't add the vegetable oil and they still turned out great.

Cheddar Beef Enchiladas

Added some olives inside as well. Very yummy with hot sauce on top. My husband liked them because they didn't taste like plain tacos.

Blueberry Dessert Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Mine didn't really form into squares as I expected. It was more like crumbles of sugar with blueberries. It tasted good but I was ready to write it off...until I realized my husband was eating it all - he loved it and ate it all over the course of a few days. So I guess it worked out in the end. Still not sure why it didn't form into anything.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Very tasty. I made these with fresh picked blueberries. I omitted the sugary topping and they still were delicious. Of course the kids didn't care for them because they are used to processed muffins with fake blueberries. Oh well, more for us!

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
This was pretty good. However I followed the advice of another reviewer to use 1/2 cup soy sauce - not a good idea - it was too much. I did add an onion and used jarred roasted red peppers. 1 tsp of pepper was perfect for me but too spicy for my husband.

Feta Cheese Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
I have never eaten a turkey burger. My husband cannot eat beef (he's allergic), so I usually make beef hamburgers for myself & turkey burgers for him. This being my first turkey burger, I really liked it! I added a homemade Greek dressing to the meat for flavor and also some garlic. I had to add some breadcrumbs because it was falling apart (could have added more). I also added some of the Greek dressing on the roll with onions and a tomato slice. Very good! I definitely will eat this again. Hubby liked it as well.

Mexican-Style Goulash

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
This was good, but it was missing something. I think if you add some more spices (& maybe hotsauce) to kick it up a notch, it would be better. It just didn't seem that Mexican. My husband said it tasted like spaghetti sauce & noodles to him.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

I made these for my husband (I don't like shrimp) and he really liked the flavor. I used my homemade basil tomato sauce. They must have been good - I caught a fish the next night using them as bait! lol

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
I've made these a few times and my family has loved them each time. I just made them this past weekend while we were camping. I smashed the bananas in a ziplock bag and kept it in the fridge and put the dry ingredients in another one. When I went to use the bananas, they had turned blackish but once I mixed them & cooked them, they were fine and tasted great. I even forgot the vegetable oil and it still turned out great. The key to this recipe is to cook them on a low heat so that middle is not mushy. Love these pancakes!

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
They were pretty good, but they were missing something. I added a little bit of red cayenne pepper and wish I had added more. Also, some minced garlic would probably have kicked the flavor up a bit as well. I marinated them for about 24 hours. When we reheated them the next day, they actually tasted better for some reason. In all, a good recipe that could use a few additions.
