Sweet Chili Thai Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2006
I really like this recipe except I agree the sugar is just WAY too much. I cut it in half and that was enough for my taste! Also, be careful of how you add the cornstarch to avoid lumps! Taste of dip is great...oh..add more cornstarch if you want a dip not a sauce.

Sarma (Stuffed Cabbage)

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
Usually for sarma you use a sour cabbage but since I didn't have one I added about 4 tbsp of vinegar to the water that I blanched the cabbage in. I also added chopped bacon to this recipe. I fried the onion and bacon together and then added to the other ingredients. Absolutely love these. I also did these in the oven instead of stove top. they turned out really well. thanks

Costas French Market Doughnuts (Beignets)

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
oh my goodness oh my goodness!!! I was craving donuts so badly and decided this was the recipe for me. So glad that I did! I have never had the "real" ones but if they taste this good...they would be awesome. Huge recipe but good if you can take them to work or have a hungry family! Next time I will try filling them with some vanilla pudding and drizzling with some choc syrup for a nice presentation.

Pretty Ham Pinwheels

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
These were really really good! I made some of them vegetarian and then others instead of ham I used smoked diced chicken which I had made. At 1st I was a bit worried about the apple and then I tasted the filling!! Curry, apple and chicken! Can't go wrong!

Creamy Broccoli With Mustard Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
I really enjoyed how easy this recipe really was. My husband is not a huge broccoli fan but since I love it, I though this would be a good way to get him to eat it..success!! I think I would add just a touch more mustard, I could taste it if I really focused on it but thought a bit more would be even better. carmelizing the onions gave a great flavour. I will difinatley make this again..great cool weather meal. After making this again....I do have to say the extra mustard was what was needed and a bit more spice... I wish more people would try this recipe!! It is awesome!!

Spring Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2006
I thought these were wonderful!! I used ground chicken and pork mixture. I didn't have crab so eliminated that. I also added ginger, some cabbage and a bit of water chestnuts for a crunch. I used spring roll wrappers and egg rolls wrappers. They both worked great.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2007
If I couldgive this recipe more stars I would!! My husband never wants turkey because he thinks that it is always dried out. So....when I saw this recipe with the brining method I thought why not give it a try. Well... all my company and my husband whole heartedly agreed that this was the moistest[is that a word] turkey they had ever had and with the most flavour. I will never change turkey recipes. I did stuff this with the stuffing recipe from classic stuffed turkey. It was just the final touch to this great turkey dinner!! Thank you thank you!! ps- after making this turkey now too many times to count, I can honestly say that all my friends and family are now using this recipe and agree that there is NO OTHER turkey recipe for them as well!

White Chocolate Coconut Macadamia Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
I guess these were not what I was expecting. Number one I couldn't get the "creamy" butter and sugar mixture and maybe that is why they went wrong from the start! I found that they baked quickly and I had to turn my oven way down.

Italian Ribollita (Vegetable and Bread Soup)

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
I found this made alot of soup so have lots of friends over and it does get better with age. The only thing I didn't like and it may have been something I did wrong but the bread was not soaked through and was a bit overwhelming...not exactly like the one I remember from Tuscany but good!

Award Winning Chili Con Carne

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2007
Great base recipe!! For my taste, I added approx 1tsp cinnamon and 1 cumin and 1/2 a bay leaf but that is just my taste! I also did not have an open bottle of wine so I used 1/2 can of beer and 1/2 can coke!! Love the recipe thanks!!

Classic Stuffed Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2007
I must admit that I did not use the turkey recipe but what i did was take the stuffing recipe and use it! I was very satisfied with it. You know how everyone loves the stuffing more than the turkey....It had a great flavour and was so moist. Definately a keeper!

Strange Flavor Eggplant Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
I didn't find this to have a strange taste at all! I liked it, it does seem to be missing something though..not sure what. Maybe the flavours need to meld a bit before serving.

Creamy Beet Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
thought this was very tasty. I used my box grater and grated the beets instead of slicing and loved the texture

Deep Fried Camembert with Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
I really enjoyed these except I am not sure about the sesame seeds. I am going to try without next time and see if I like it better. One thing that I would recommend is slicing the cheese and putting it in the freezer for a while. It makes so that that the cheese doesn't ooze out...if it is not gooey enough after frying, stick in the microwave a few seconds!

Chicken and Dumplings I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2006
I used some herbs to flavour the chicken stock with. Some fresh rosemary and a couple bay leaves which I then strained out when I took the chicken out. I wanted a stew not a soup so I ended up thickening this and it turned out really good. I also used a different dumpling recipe since I was worried the dumplings would be tough because of what the other reviewers said. But the flavour was excellent and I would use this recipe as a base again.

these are awesome! I didn't have unsweetened coconut so I cut the sugar in half. And I also used a vanilla bean instead of the extract. great flavour! Next time I will use some oats to give a bit of texture.

Thyme Green Beans with Almonds

I made these with french green beans and did it exactly as the recipe said. What an easy awesome side dish. With the toasted almonds sprinkled over top it looks very appetizing as well.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies III

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
I made a few alterations due to lack of ingredients. I used good quality dark choc chunks, only vanilla and like some other reviewers did half butter and half shortening. The only other change was I made them WAY bigger and then flattened them with damp fingers. I love them and am planning on hiding them before my husband gets home!!
