Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
This was really simple! I used a banana supreme cake mix and 4 small ripe bananas. I baked this a little longer than advised, but it tasted just like the banana nut bread that I usually make from scratch!

Mission Mexican Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
These were good, but took some time. (I made a number of changes.) I used picante sauce instead of pizza sauce & added chopped black olives & green chiles to give more flavor. I also added taco seasoning to the ground beef & used refried black beans. I left out the onions & tomatoes but added shredded lettuce. My family loved these & said that they were so much better than Taco Bell (thank goodness!)

Garlic Fried Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
I made a few changes based on past experiences - I saute the onions, garlic & rice in butter and THEN add the water. Because of what I served this time, I replaced the water with chicken broth & a little bit of white wine. Turned out nice!

Turkey Burger Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
This is a quick & tasty recipe that the whole family loved! To the meat we added worcestershire, chili powder, garlic salt & black pepper for a little kick. We also added a can of mixed veggies between the meat & cheese to make it a one-dish meal. Awesome!

Southern Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
I doubled the recipe & used chicken drumsticks. I also put some bay leaves in the water when the chicken was boiling. This turned out great! It was time consuming, but very easy. There are so many ways to vary this recipe according to taste. Thanks so much!

Millionaire Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
Thank you so much for the recipe! I followed it exactly and the pies came out great. Be sure to FOLD in the whipped topping - if you put it in a mixer, it will turn to goo (as I have found in the past). That's probably why others have had trouble with it being runny. I will make these again & again!

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
These were amazing! I used canned yams and, based on other reviews, I cut the butter & brown sugar down to 3/4 cup each. I also like a little texture, so I added 3/4 cup of chopped pecans. Delicious!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
These were GREAT! They are easier to roll out than sugar cookies and they taste delicious. I followed the suggestions of others and only baked them for 7 minutes to make them softer. The dough is very forgiving and not too spicy - my 7 year old loved them! I will be making these again!

Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
This dish was very tasty! Since I sauted the onions in butter, I left the butter out of the recipe. There was a nice blend of ingredients - had a great flavor.

Chicken Flautas

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
For the work that was involved, they just weren't worth it to me. I made them for a party & they looked horrible. The corn tortillas were pliable when I worked with them, but busted open when they baked. They are ok if you are keeping them at home, but terrible on presentation for a group.

The Best and Cheesiest Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2010
This recipe is really forgiving - I ran out of mayo, but it turned out fine. I added garlic powder, but I think that I will add fresh garlic next time, as suggested in a previous post.

Slow Cooked Baked Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
As usual, I changed this recipe up a little bit. I doubled the recipe & used bacon instead of cured pork. I also soaked the beans beforehand. Because of this, I only needed six cups of water when I put it all in the slow cooker (3 cups if the recipe wasn't doubled). I like my beans a little sweeter, so I added 4 more tbsp of brown sugar to my doubled recipe. Very tasty!

Blackened Tuna

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
This was a very simple & tasty recipe. You do have to be careful not to over-cook the tuna. I served this on a bed of spanish rice & my 8-year old couldn't get enough!

These were great! I used my bread machine on the dough cycle for the mixing/rising. I also used this recipe for a loaf of bread. Wonderful!

Mexican Style Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2007
I've made these twice - once for my sister's bridal shower and again at Christmas. They were a hit both times! These meatballs are pretty spicy & not recommended for kids. This recipe makes a ton, so bring your appetite. Delicious!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2005
This was amazing! I didn't have any potato flakes, so I left them out and added pepper and cajun seasoning to the mixture. My husband said that it was one of the best meals that I have ever cooked!
