I work corporate by day and personal chef by night. I love cooking and have been in the kitchen baking and testing recipes since I was a small child standing on a stool next to mom. I have the best taste tester in the world ( my husband ) and we even cook together on occasion. We hope to have our first child by 2013 and then I will have a whole new world of different recipes to try. Meanwhile, we love to travel, fix up our home and watch movies.
My favorite things to cook
I can't think of anything I don't like to cook. I make alot of healthier dishes, especially low carb, but then on the flip side my husband and I will throw theme parties like German night or Mexican night and I'll go all out from the appetizers to dessert. We are big into cooking international dishes, with the exception of sushi . .can't find or afford the quality of fish I would need, so we save that for the restaurants.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make at least 12 to 14 different kinds of cookies every christmas. I give decorated plates or gift baskets of them to family and friends. It started out as something to save money and because I enjoy baking, but now I can never stop because my friends (and co-workers who get the leftovers) would be disappointed to receive real christmas gifts.
My cooking triumphs
My baked goods, especially tall layer cakes. I now have go-to recipes for red velvet, carrot cake, coconut cake and wedding cake. The downside is I'm always the go-to person for family and friends birthday cakes!
My cooking tragedies
I can't make eggplant. No matter what recipe I try, it ends up a gray, mushy, flavorless mess. I've given up on it.
