Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: May 9, 2008
This was SO delicious! Words can't even describe. I usually use a recipe that has cream, butter, etc...and takes twice as long to make. Never again...who would have thought cottage cheese & sour cream in mac & cheese! It tastes just like homestyle mac and cheese. Will use over and over again. I added a little onion to mine b/c thats how we like our mac & cheese...

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
To get a beautiful cheesecake that is golden brown on top and does not split/crack please take the time to read the reviews. I used a water bath (for the water bath you can just use a deep cookie sheet filled w/hot water) and let my cake cool in the oven and my cheesecake was gorgeous and tasted amazing (I added two split vanilla beans and made a vanilla bean cheesecake). **Tip for cutting** Use a large butcher knife and run it through some really hot water, wipe dry w/a cloth and slice slowly into the cake. Remove the knife and run under the water again, wipe off, and repeat...this will ensure clean even cuts each time. Enjoy! This is a keeper for sure!

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2007
I highly suggest baking at 350 degrees for 10-11 minutes. They will be very soft when they come out but the bottoms will be golden brown, you dont want cookies to go past golden brown (the rest of the cookie firms up as it cools)! Remove the cookies as soon as they come out of the oven to a rack lined w/parchment paper. Also the batter is not as firm as your average cookie batter and I couldnt get the fork tong thing to work but it didnt matter. I used extra chunky PB and these turned out AMAZING! I got tons of compliments!

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
My husband is always begging me to make this soup. I follow the recipe exactly except for the bread. I just bake the bread and melt the cheese in the oven on its own and when I pour the soup into the bowls I just plop the bread on top! Its just as good, I promise. Very good comfort food!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
I use this ALL the time. I work one saturday a month and we always have a potluck and all my co-workers always ask for this guac! To avoid browning (since I make my guac the night before I take it to work) I take an extra lime and squeeze all the juice out over the guac. When I open the tupperware the next day I just mix the extra lime juice in (I prefer mine w/the extra lime, you could just pour it out if you wanted to) and serve! Very, very good...and you can never add enough garlic! Enjoy!

Creamy Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
I made this cake for a BBQ and it was a HUGE hit...everyone gobbled it up and asked for seconds. I followed the recipe exactly, the only thing I added was the zest of one lemon to the cake batter and another zest of one lemon to the whip cream mixture. When my cake was done it was a little mounded on the top so I took a knife and cut the top so the surface was nice and flat for me to pour the whipped topping over, otherwise it would have slipped down the sides and been uneven. I will be making this again, and again, and again!

Cinnamon Bread Delight

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2006
I just made this and my house smells so good! Here is what I did...I did 1/2 white sugar and 1/2 brown sugar instead of all white to give a darker color. I also added 1/2 tsp more cinnamon b/c it just seemed like it needed more! On top of that I used cinnamon apple sauce. I also used buttermilk instead of milk b/c I usually use buttermilk when baking breads and it makes the bread even more dense & moist! I did not add the cinnamon sugar to the bottom, instead during the last 15 min of baking I added it on top to give a nice sweet crunch. The end result?...YUMMY!

Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2006
I had no trouble w/this turning out smooth and silky. I did make the crust. I had a 9.5 inch pie dish so I just crushed up one entire package of graham crackers and added an extra Tbl spoon of Butter and little extra sugar to the crust mix and it turned out fine! I didnt bother letting it cool in the freezer as long as the recipe suggested. I pulled the finished pie out of the oven, let it cool for about 30min, popped it in the freezer for 1hr, then I topped it w/cool whip and placed it in the fridge and the texture/temp was just right! I will make this again for sure!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: May 18, 2006
These are worth the work! They taste exactly like the mall pretzels. I didnt use parchment paper, I just sprayed some pam on a cookie sheet. My only recommendation would be to not butter and salt the pretzels until you eat them b/c when I stored mine w/the butter and salt and went to eat them later the salt had dissolved and they were sort of soggy (but still good). Next time I will store them "naked" and then re-heat and add butter and toppings. Will make again!

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: May 2, 2006
I make this all the time. I will half the suggested recipe amount and use that for two bags of natural popcorn and it coats each kernel w/a good amount of caramel. I only bake it 3 times for 15 minutes and it gives a chewy but crunchy texture. Great when sitting at home watching a movie or any tv show!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 2, 2006
This are the most amazing brownies ever. I follow the recipe exactly and they are always perfect. Sometimes instead of using the frosting w/the recipe I will use the whipped cream cheese frosting recipe that can be found on this site. I will also add walnuts or macadamia nuts every once and awhile. I will never go back to the box again!

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2006
This was beyond yummy...I had a girls night at my house and thought this would be a nice start to our meal, I followed the directions exactly except I minced some garlic and spread it on top while it was baking b/c I love fresh garlic. I served it with some balsamic vinegar for dipping and the bread disappeared! I will make again for sure!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2006
This was so yummy! I used it w/the best brownies recipe...my husband and mom could not get enough. I would suggest giving yourself more time to make this, it took a good 10-15 minutes to get the cream to form stiff peaks and I used an electric mixer...but worth every minute!

Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
This is very tasty, I just married into a Spanish family and I LOVED my mother-in-laws Sangria but I wanted to try and impress her with "my own" so I used this recipie. She loved it! A little secret I stole from her recipe, add about 4 cinnamon sticks and 5 whole cloves and let it sit for about 2-3 days and it gives a nice kick of spice to it. I will be making this again for sure!

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2006
I use this at least once a week...I just throw it in the oven when I get home from work and by the time Im done w/my shower, chores, etc...I have a yummy potato waiting for me. I do add a little more zest w/mine. I add garlic salt, ground red pepper, a smidge of ground ginger, and season-all. This tastes great with some of the garlic butter recipes you can find on the site. Thanks Curleegirlee!
