Chococonut Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
Really good cookies! I decreased the flour just a touch in each cup and followed the rest exactly. They turned out chewy and delicious! Even people who say they usually HATE coconut, said there's something about these cookies that makes them crave them!! Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe!

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2012
I added a bit of lemon extract for flavour, and followed the rest exactly. I didn't expect such rave reviews for these! I rarely make things with fruit in them, let alone sour fruits for the family! I had lemons I had to use up, so I made these anyway. I am so glad I did! They were so good that many people at the family gathering could not keep their hands off them, even the kids! Thanks for sharing this recipe, truly a keeper!

Broiler Icing

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
Made chocolate cupcakes not realizing that I didn't have enough icing sugar to make frosting, so I found this recipe and made it instead. Omitted the nuts. I was a bit worried, as it doesn't have that creamy factor that frosting has, but let me tell you, I'm glad I tried it! Everyone loved it. Some did think it was a bit sweet, although I decreased the sugar a bit, but other than that, I was pleasantly surprised that it was such a hit. Especially that it looked more like melted cheese on top, instead of coconut! It is a nice change from the regular frosting, and quite original of a technique! Thanks for sharing, it really helped me out! :)

Milly's Oatmeal Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
Absolutely perfect! Chewy, flavourful and very easy to make. I only used chocolate chips in the whole batter, and added pecans to half the batter. No raisins. I will try by adding toffee bits as well next time, it seems like they would be the ultimate addition! thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
I used half brown sugar, as others suggested, and followed the rest exactly. Unfortunately, mine came out a bit dry and stuck to the pan quite a bit. It was really hard to get it out. I made a lemon glaze with lemon juice, water and sugar heated together, and poured over the warm cake, after I poked holes into it to make it more moist. Still was dry! Some loved it, and others thought it was just okay. I would have given it 3 stars, but because I changed the brown sugar a bit, I thought I'd give it 4 to be fair, as I am supposed to rate the recipe posted, and not my modifications. :) thanks for sharing!

Russian Potato Salad from Costa Rica

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
Really good recipe if you want a change from the usual potato salad, especially if you like beets. I used fresh beets that I diced and and boiled for a while until they were fork soft. Separately boiled the potatoes as well as the eggs. Moth my kids love beets, so they loved this salad! I do not care for beets, so I can't comment...I did add a squeeze of mustard to give it a bit of tang, and it works pretty well! Thanks for sharing :)

Gold Rush Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
I thought they were amazing, but I gave it four stars because everyone else in the family thought they were just okay. To me the flavour was perfectly balanced, not too sweet with the chewy-ness I love! Yumm!

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
Delicious. A hit for some, and just normal for others. I thought it was great though! I bit less chewy than the usual pecan pie, but very similar. Some thought it would be ultimate if I added some cchocolate chips to the filling, which I completely agree on and will try that next time God willing! Thanks for sharing!

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Not bad. A bit too sweet and coconutty for my taste though. One of my sons loved it and the other one did not care for it at all. I would use evaporated milk next time instead of the coconut milk.

Mediterranean Breakfast Quinoa

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Mine boiled over really fast, even though I had it on low, so I had to continue cooking without covering completey. So..be careful it doesn't boil over!! Other than that, this was my first time cooking with quinoa. It came out very tasty qith a bit of a crunch. Kids loved it! Nice change from regular oatmeal. thanks!

Sweet Potato Potato Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
Love it! Nice change from regular potato salad. I subbed some sour cream and plain yogurt for half the mayo. I did not like the sour cream taste in it much, so next time, I will only sub with plain yogurt. Other than that, very tasty! Thanks for sharing!

Very easy to handle and wrap cookie dough around cherries. Just make an elongated ball, press a deep hole into it lengthwise, and drop cherry in the hole .Close up and re shape onto ball. Delicious surprise, and not much fuss to make! thanks for sharing!

Habanero Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
A little disapointed. I was expecting the habanero flavour to marry with the cookie, but instead, it just felt like little pieces of very spicy habanero inside a sweet cookie instead of choc. chips. It felt kind of weird and out of no where. No one who tried them thought they went well together, and we LOVE spicy! So that was not the issue. I used orange habaneros. I am still giving them four stars because the cookie part was nice.

Middle Eastern Rice with Black Beans and Chickpeas

Easy, flavorful, and a nice change from the usual! My mom said the balance of spices was perfect! I omitted the turkey as I did not have any, and followed the rest as written. Great side dish! thanks!

Crispy Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Mine came out more crunchy than crispy. I did not like it too much. Even though I had added some jerk seasoning, which made it taste really good, the texture was a bit hard for me, and not worth the work and time it takes. My kids did love it though! Thanks for sharing :)

Apple Butter Spice Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
Wow, I was NOT expecting this cake to be this good!! I just wanted to use up my apple butter, but now I feel like I should buy some more just to make this cake again!! It is so moist, and the brown sugar in the middle makes it so very flavourful with the cinnamon...WOW...really perfect texture and taste! Thanks for sharing this amazing recipe!
